Hello
Wonder if anyone knows how i can stop dogs crapping in my garden.
The front garden is open plan and this weekend we have had 5... yes 5 graps in the garden and one has been walked through the house.. disgusting.
If there anything i can put on the grass or is there a device i could get to scare them? I have caught one peeing and followed in home to tell the owner.
Any ideas of anyone... its doing my head in!!
Thanks

If dogs stop pooing they will explode - think of the mess!
Or, leave a plastic bottle half full of water in the garden. They don't like them for some reason and will do their business elsewherede do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar0 -
I will give it a whirl... its doing my hea din and i'm constantly looking at the garden..
I seen the one yesterday an panicked and ran to the door.. my tracksuit bottom string got tangled around a draw handle and i went flying.. haha
I'm looking forward to catching a dog with its owner and having a go at the owner.. and if they dont pick it up i'll post it through their letter box.
Any other advice then will be much a appreicated but will give the bottle advice a whirl!!!0 -
I thought the water was for cats.. not sure it would stop dogs!!! As you've mentioned it's the owners not the dogs.. can you not put a sign up somewhere?Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 092

I had a similar problem with dogs crapping outside my house. It would be a great idea to catch the owner letting their dog do it, but unfortunately there is not much you can do, if it is on the pavement then the council can fine them, but if it is on your garden then they can't. Although I like the idea of putting it through their letter box!
Anyway, I bought some stuff from Wilkinsons, it is a gel type stuff, blue in colour and you sprinkle it around and the dogs don't like the smell. Worked for me. I think it was called 'Keep off' or something like thet.0 -
Ive had a few ideas if i do catch the dog and the owner with it... my best one which i think was on a film i watched years ago was but the pooh in a paper bag and place on the owners door mat and light it causing a little fire..then ring the bell and run as fast as you can.. owner answers the door sees the fire and tries to put out using their feet!! hahaha
I will ned to take a walk to a pet shop and see if they got anything..like that "keep off" I'm in work now and all i can think about is how many poohs i'm gonna find when i get home!!!
Keep the ideas coming!!
Thanks all.0 -

I was gonna put a sign up but didnt wat people to take the p*ss... if only thwy took their sh*t they i wouldnt have to put the sign up! haha
Ive thought about a fence but its not a very big garden anyway and i'd also be the only one in the street with a fence or wall up...
They crap in the same place aswell.. apparently they mark it as there territory..so maybe i should dig a big hole and fell it with leaves so when the dog goes back it falls in the hole and then i've caught the culprit..
Ive got to stop being mean! hahaha (evil laugh) hehe0 -

Keep a hose pipe or water pistol handy. When you catch a dog in the act, give it a good soaking. The fright will put them off coming back again, and water won't harm the dog.
It does work. My puppy used to bark at every tiny noise or movement in the street, so I squirted him with a plant sprayer every time he did it. He soon got the message and stopped barking. Here I go again on my own....0
