Avira or MSE?

I currently have Avira installed but should I remove this and install Microsoft Security Essential? I noticed http://www.av-comparatives.org/ reports Avira as having a better detection rate but are there advantages to having MSE installed?
My advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.

Avira and MSE are both fine.
AVG is rubbish and you should stay away from it.0 -
I swapped from AVG to MSE, it is a vast improvement.;)0

I went from Avira to MSE just to see what it was like.
I honestly have seen no difference (although I'm careful about how I use my PC) and although I was expecting to see more false positives as MS tried to 'prove' how good their software was, it appears to be running fine.
I'm happy to let it run for another while, but it only uses ~2.5Mb of RAM so not resource hungry in the slightest.0 -

CPJames19 > I've seen a difference already and I only swapped over to MSE yesterday from AVG. Personally I think it is better.. But if not, I can always change back. MSE alerts are better too. I didnt no I had a trojan untill I scanned my computer with MSE.. but I'm no expert.[STRIKE]SHOPtillYOUdrop[/STRIKE]

It would be wise to double check your clean (Upto you though)
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN
Post the COMPLETE log in a NEW thread AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
reboot
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log in your NEW thread so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log):idea:0 -
Well I have both Avira and MSE running side by side!! Also have Malwarebytes running too!!
Well you are stupid then! Unfortunately MSE does not check for other installed AV programs on installation. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
