*** Living beyond my means - My diary ***

Right, After a big spending weekend which has left me feeling pretty down and broke.. I thought it was about time I tried my best to stop spending more than I earn, So here goes.

I know Im not in that much debt but any debt is bad enough, you can see my debts in my signature :)

So from now on im going to write down what I spend and any other stuff I feel like, so any advice/encouragement would be GREAT as im feeling pretty depressed again now.

Im 19 & currently working as a chef in a busy restaurant, doing between 40 - 50 hour p/w and my pay is only £5.30 p/h, so pretty bad. But I am looking for a new job within IT and have a few job interviews in the next few weeks, also looking into doing some advance IT courses and maybe re-taking my Maths & English GCSE's..

Here it goes: This weekend I spent almost £300  on my GF birthday, took her shopping then we went to a rave on the Saturday night. So I have no money now until Friday.

As I said any advice/help or encouragement is welcome and I hope I dont bore the pants off you too much..

Thank alot :j

** Ive decided to post my SOA **

Rent to my mum: £120 p/m
Loan from Dad: £120 p/m
Provident: £80 p/m
Sky+: £35 p/m
Bus pass: £20 p/m
Petrol to my mum: £15-£20 p/m
Mobile phone: At least £60 p/m.. usually £100 for 2 contracts.
Interest on overdraft: £10-£20 p/m
Barclaycard: £30 p/m

On a good note my GF has just started her first full time job after finishing her hairdressing course, so she'l be earning from now on which will save me loads lol ;)

cant you get rid of the sky tv? you dont really need it!
get a pay as you go mobile, its easier to keep a eye on what your spending, i spend about £15 - 20 a month on my mobile (payg)

I did have my Sky subscription off for about 2 months and found it REALLY boring without it, have downgraded it from £42 p/m also I cant cancel my contracts as it would cost me too much. But am NEVER getting a contract again once these finish.

H & M can do some pretty nice shirts for guys at a very reasonable cost. When my boyfriend went from bar work to office work, I kitted him out pretty much entirley from H & M - and if you are lucky, if they have a sale on you can snap up some great bargains. Also they sometimes do buy 2 get 1 free or something. Worth checking out.

Also if you have an independent department store near you, go & look for shirts there. Peter England shirts inexpensive but are good quality, very easy to look after and come in some quite funky colours but they look smart.

These are fine until you are earning enough money to move up to designer!

hey, I know its hard but you honestly don't keep a good OH by spending lots of money on them! I was really skint at valentines so I put an invite in OH's card to come to dinner in the flat. He LOVED the idea and went to his brothers to get changed etc and arrived with flowers and some wine and the invite. it cost me £20 and it was an amazing evening. we're only 25 too!

perhaps you could negotiate getting your dads loan repayments down to £100pm?

    good luck

Does anyone know any tips/tricks with Sky? Say if I rang them up asking to cancel my subscription saying I dont feel its worth it, they can offer me any discounts? Has anyone tried this or anything?

My bf got some nice shirt/tie deals in Asda

also (you may not want to, he said this too) but he went into a charity shop and found shirts that hadn't even been worn - ok for work and interviews
