I was in asda last night and I picked up a leaflet saying that if you use a asda store or credit card in the petrol station that you would get 2p a litre off the price of the fuel.

Has anyone else seen this? I just wonder if its a way of gaining customers & then cancelling the offer after a few weeks.

If it is permenant offer then it would work out better than morrisons offer of 1.5p off in morrison miles.

I can't find any mention of it on asda's website although it says on the flier to look on the website for more details.

Cheers

This is a new offer being rolled out across the UK, it requires a software update at each store petrol station which is why you will not find it nationally advertised at the moment. When a store has been updated they will promote the offer in store.

I can't say that it is a permanent offer as any offer could change or end in the future, however it is designed to be a long term offer to give added value to the Asda Credit Card.

Watch out for 5% off purchases with an Asda Credit Card at George stores and Asda Living stores aswell (Not available in main Asda stores - only standalone George High Street Stores and the Asda Living Stores).

I've just moved house any my local Asda is cheapest for petrol anyway so an extra 2p off would be great....but as I've just moved house, how long should I wait before applying for the credit card?
    Thanks!
  • I have just applied for the Asda Visa card as I already buy all my petrol at an Asda garage and also a new Asda superstore is being built on the outskirts on my town.

Has anyone got an Asda Store Card and can they tell me what it is? During my application for an Asda Visa card is said if I am unsuccessful in my application for a Visa card I may get a store card instead. The Asda website does not say much about the store card.

I assume the ASDA Storecard is just like the Credit card but you can only use it to buy things at ASDA.
  • Thanks firespire, I guess I was bing a bit dumb.....

  • Noticed this last week, so started to pay for fuel with my Asda card - they are also the cheapest both at home and near work.

I assume you still get the points (1 point for every £2) too?

    According to https://www.gecapitalbank.co.uk/asda/asda-cards-benefits.html

"Earn 1 point for every £2 you spend, with every point being worth 1p"

EDIT: Can anyone tell me what these points are worth?

You receive Asda vouchers, have about £20 at the moment - which is going to go up quite quickly now I'm using it for buying fuel too.

I applied for the card over a week ago, but hadn't heard anything, so I called them yesterday to be told that it had been deffered, I was told to call a number to discuss it.

I called the number but was told it was nothing to do with them (they were the unable to pay dept) so I called cust services again. They eventually put me through to the credit management department.

They said that the wrong address had been inputted & they wanted to confirm my past address. I gave them my previous address and waited. They came back to me to say I had been declined. I couldn't understand this as I have a 10k credit limit on 1 card and a couple of other storecards. I talked to the lady and she agreed to ask her manager if she could over rule it. She said that my previous addresses were good. In the end they came back saying I could have a storecard & a £500 credit limit. Its a start and i could always request a higher limit when activating the card.

As I was declined for the GE 3% money back, I'm glad I've got 2p off fuel! And free delivery on home shopping.

    It pays to ask!!
