Last night had occasion to call them for the first time in well over a year.

Was on hold for over 30 minutes and at the end of it all they could offer no solution to my problem. This is in contrast to my experience with them when first joining. Victims of their own success and just becoming like any other ISP , albeit without an Indian call centre?

I called them today at about 3pm and call was answered within 1 min. If you call them in the evening then i cant blame them if it takes a while for them to answer.
  • well i have called them a few times they seem very helpful and i had to get them of the phone once!:money:, the service is completely free and they answered within 30 secs, i think there great!
Aqua card - £250 Limit up to date, Jd Williams £150 limit up to date, Argos store card £400 limit up to date, Next £300 limit up to date.
  • I have been with them nearly a month, I called them at different times, often during the day.
Had to wait up to 20 minutes, a few times a gave up!

And the connection is totally useless during the evening!

If you want Tech support you go with BE Broadband. If you want cheap, you go with o2. That is how it is, plain and simple.

sorry but 30 minutes is too long. they should tailor their support based on their customer base not on what it was a year ago.
  • The service worked flawlessy during the day, so I had to call them in the evening, not by choice....
And it was bad even when I tried during the day.

Anyway I found out what the problem was, lots of people are having DNS issues, and some MSers advised me to use OpenDNS. Everything has been working perfectly since then!

So I'm a happy customer again!

Sorry but I think this is rubbish.

I choose O2 over Be mainly because the reviews and feedback from everywhere I looked (including MSE) showed even slightly higher ratings for O2. This plus the low cost and good cashback/offers made me decide to go with them.

You are the first person who is saying (or rather implying) that O2's customer service is not very good.

You are unlikely to get higher performance from O2 - as the physical connection is exactly the same - the only thing that might make a difference is that Be allow you to set profiles for optimising the line for gaming etc. that O2 do not allow

I did not mean technical performance, I know they use the same connection. I have now edited the post to make it clearer.
