What's the deal?[/title]
We’ve blagged a month's free subscription to Sky Songs streaming service and a free album download worth £6.50ish (or 10 free tracks) for the first 15,000 people to enter a special code on its site.

How it works
[/title]
Sky songs is the TV giant's new music streaming site which, for a monthly fee, allows you to listen to unlimited music via your PC & the internet plus and gives you a free album or 10 free tracks per month. However the first 15,000 new Sky Songs users to enter the special code will get one month free and the album.
What albums can you get?
The free album can be from any of its £6.49 range which makes up over 95% of the entire site catalogue ( premium, double CD and special edition albums are priced higher). Alternatively users can choose ANY 10 individual tracks from the 4 million available.
To get it you need be over 18 and enter credit or debit card details, but provided you pick the one month only option, your card won't be debited and the trial will automatically stop at the end.

Step-by-step guide to signing up[/title]
Yes, just because you have an iPod doesn't mean you exclusively have to use iTunes. Once you've downloaded the track or album you'll be asked if you want to save it to your iTune library. Simply pick this option and it will be added.
[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]
Is it worth carrying on with the subscription?
[/title]
It's possible to get free unlimited streamed music from other sites such as Spotify (if you can get your mitts on one of the elusive free invites), Last FM Or Musicovery though some will make you listen to adverts.
However this one is ad free and has downloads to keep as well so all in all it's not bad value if you spend that on music anyway (though it's not always cheapest).

What is streaming?
[/title]
Streaming is where you listen to music via your PC and the internet. Once your connection is broken you won't be able to listen, you can't keep the music and you can't transfer it to your mp3 player.
However the advantages are that you can pick what tracks you listen to and depending on which provider you pick you'll get current releases.

You Clown!0 -
I dont think there will ever be a fair time that everyone will be at home sitting on their computer. People work early in the day, later on, and at night. So theres never going to be the right time that suits everyone0

Because everybody finishes work at 5pm? :rolleyes:0 -
Can you register on your work computer, get the freebie and then download the gubbins to your desktop later?
Would be useful to know if that's possible. Also, I wonder if there's a link to a searchable catalogue anywhere. Just to make sure it's not all X factor rejects.0 -
In answer to my previous post, you can search the catalogue and it looks pretty good.0

I would hazard a stab that most people will likely work between 8am - 6pm so can totally see his point. (perhaps there's a Poll right there! lol)
But agree there isnt a "fair" time for everyone.0 -

Yes - as the downloads are all DRM free MP3s, you can download anywhere you want and then put them on USB stick (or email) and transfer to another computer.0 -
To anyone saying this isn't fair, I really wouldn't get your knickers in a twist. There will be far more people try to get it than number available and after all its only actually worth £6.49, we're not talking anything major.
And if I remember I will too be trying also0
