Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

PAYG iPhones are still subsidised though, albeit not as much as contract phones, hence the 12 month period before unlocking becomes free. £15 seems pretty reasonable, all things considered.

I wonder how o2 will deal with unlocking second hand iPhones bought by non-o2 customers? I unlocked via ultrasn0w some time ago anyway, but it'd be nice to have the security of an official unlock.

£15 is reasonable, expecting 12 months worth of top ups isn't.
  • This might be a silly question, but i have an Unlocked iphone which was originally on 02.
I've been using my Orange PAYG sim in it for the past couple of months & can make & receive calls no problem.
But i cannot access the internet via the phone.

I've purchased the £1 one day PAYG internet access but when i try to start surfing it says either:
"Safari can't open the page, because it can't find the server" or "Could not activate Edge, you are not subscribed to Edge".

Is it a matter of having to sign up to a specific Orange/iphone package, to enable me to use the internet?

Could you access the net on the old phone ?
If not you need the bundles added to your acc screen at the Orange end. Adding them costs nothing just using them.
You'll also need the Orange settings as at the moment, I'd think, its still get the O2 one's in there and it's trying to use those, which isn't going to work.
The guys on the JT help desk might have them or a bit of googling should bring them up.

Yep, i could access the internet fine when i was on 02. But like you say, i think it's still trying to access it via the 02 settings.

So basically, i need to add bundles & get the Orange settings.

Does anyone have a link for this? Also what's the JT help desk? :o

I cant see them subsidising a pag iphone as it will be a loss to them. no network provider will sell you a phone unless they know they can make a profut out of it. for them to sell the iphone on pag cheaper to me than what they bought it for does not make any sense at all.

You sometimes get the o2 reps advisning you of this but it is a load of tosh just to get you to buy the phone
