Advice would be appreciated on an ipod I sent for repair a month ago to a company in Richmond where I've received plenty of excuses why it has been delayed and many false deadlines for its return. It as advertised as 'cheap ipod repairs' with a fixed price.

Around 10 days after sending it, I was told it was probably fixed and getting sent out in a few days. After two weeks, I was told a replacement part had been received and it would be installed the next day and sent out in a few days. After three weeks, I got told the software was being re-installed and it would be sent out in a few days....
Handy way to get hold of several thousand ipods [albeit that need a repair]
Maybe you could buy it when he lists it for sale on ebay??
Funnily enough, there is an inactive account on ebay where the username is identical to this particular company's name which seemed to sell or repair audio equipment and where a few negative feedback includes the following
"item not recieved dispite agreement to send again or give refund, no refund"
"Item Never arrived, No communication."
"Item never arrived even after 3.5 weeks. relatively prompt refund.Be careful"
I'm hoping its just a coincidence and that the service is just slow and sloppy because someone is doing this kind of repair on the side in addition to their day job, that they are an amateur, rather than dishonest.
But a month to not fix or return an ipod is poxy service nonetheless.

just write to them saying that they are taking an unreasonable period of time providing their service and that they have 7 days to either complete work, accept payments and return item OR return item in original condition otherwise you will have to issue a letter before action and persue your property or suitable recourse.
Then just take your business elsewhere if they return your ipod unfixed, oh and make sure your bank doesnt accept the cheque.
send the letter recorded, or just send an email with a request t be notified when opened at the other end.

I received confirmation from an ebay buyer that left negative feedback that the individual who has not returned my ipod is the same one whose account is now inactive on Ebay.
The Ebay buyer reported this seller to Ebay when they paid for an ipod and was sent through a different item, though they received a refund.
I certainly see what legal options you have by making sure you write to them with key facts in a recorded letter giving them 7-14 days via recorded letter or you may go to small claims court but you must be confident they may pay up
I have a habit of removing some of my helpful posts and put posters on block list if I find they are ungrateful attitude, thanking someone doesn't cost anything but may come some where to getting help in future I also put some trolls on my block list so forgive if I don't feed your desire for attention
The traders attitude to being set a deadline for the return of the item or further action will be taken, as recommended by consumer direct is 'Good, take action, I don't care' .
Presumably this is because their company no longer actually exists - I pulled a report on the Checksure site which says the non-limited company Mediatron is dissolved/struck off.
His website references the company that no longer actually trades - it doesn't actually exist!
My transaction took place wholly outside of ebay, based on his internet advertisement and company website.
However, anothyer ebay user that left negative feedback about the trader on the ebay site (which I discovered during my dispute) were kind enough to confirm that it is the same person and that they were forced to report him to Ebay admin for refusing to give a refund when they did not receive the Ipod they purchased.
