Lloyds TSB phone calls

Options
For the last 6 months I have been getting phone calls claiming to be from Lloyds TSB - in fact I think it is a debt collection company acting for them. The problem is that the callers are asking to speak to someone else, ie they have the wrong number. I have tried everything I can to get them to recognise this and stop calling. If I call the number they leave I just get a recorded message. The number is 01273 743 574 which I think is in Brighton.

Does anyone know who these people are and how I can speak to them directly? Even Lloyds TSB themselve seem unable to stop this.

I tried the number as well. The recording just says "You have called today on behalf of Lloyds TSB. We will try you later" & hangs up. I did a Google search on the number & came up with nothing. I think it is probably a collection agency. If you have an account with Lloyds (open or closed) I would call them & enquire about these calls youve been getting. If it is indeed a wrong number, perhaps you can call Lloyds & see if they can remove your name from their internal database. Try 0845 3 000 000, although you mentioned it didnt work previously. You might need to escalate it; speak to a manager & not the first person who picks up the call centre line. Good Luck!

    Thanks,

I am a LLoyds TSB customer and have contacetd them THREE times to ask them to fix this. Each time the calls stopped for a while and then started again. They are often quite rude and behave as if they think I'm lying. One demanded to know how long I had had my phone! I hung up. What I would really like is to track down the agency that is making these calls and bring a harrassment complaint agianst them.

Do they ever call you prior to 8am, or past 10pm? Im trying to see if they can be cited for harrassment. I would say they could. There is a website I have heard of, thesite.org.uk, which help victims of harrassment. I cannot access it from where I am or else I would look up some further info on it for you. Check that out first. If you have asked them to stop calling & they do not, this is harrassment.

Personally, I wouldnt touch Lloyds TSB with a ten foot pole. They only give interest of like .01% or some such. I bailed on them 2 years ago. Im mortified that they have been so uncool with you. As part of your quest for freedom from these phonecalls you might have to vote with your feet, darlin'.

    Thanks for the further advice.

As for voting with my feet, I've been a satisfied customer for many years and am reluctant to dump them over this which is probably down to dim-witted collection agency. By the way they seem to phone at all times of the day including weekends - I've started to keep all their calls on my mobile.

I've just identified a Lloyd "Card & credit DEbt recovery centre in Brighton which has avery similar phone number - It's probably them.

I'll get back here if I have any joy.

I'm a LloydsTSB credit card customer, and I recognise part of that number.
01273 743743 is the number for card customer services, so the number you gave must be their debt recovery dept.
So this is not an agency harassing you, it is actually LloydsTSB.
Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!

    Hmm

Maybe this is down to a previous tenant's behaviour and he/she in fact owes this money and has done a runner. That would explain why they are asking for someone else. Hopefully nobody will turn up at your door.

Thanks for the thought The Boss but the calls are to my mobile phone which I purchased new. I am pretty certain someone (the person they are trying to call) gave them the wrong number (mine) and they are just too stupid to get the message. A previous reply about the Lloyds phone number gave me a clue and I'm now pretty certain the calls are coming form Lloyds TSB's debt recovery unit in Brighton. I've found a phone number but if I ring it I get a message saying the centre is closed but is open from 9 to 5 on weekdays - I got this message at 11:00am today!!!

But I have an address so I'm writing to them today.

In the unlikely event that they bother to reply, I'll let you know what they say.

I know this is a very old thread but it came up when I was searching for information on exactly the same thing.

I bought a new phone about 3 months ago, brand new sim card and number etc. (Pay as You Go with T-Mobile) and I keep getting these calls from Lloyds TSB. It's a foreign sounding man and he's asking to speak to another foreign sounding name (Abu Amori or something like that). First of all I just said "sorry you've got the wrong number" but yesterday I got really cross and said "why do you keep phoning this number, I've told you that it's the wrong number?" He apologised and said he would remove it and then today I got the same call  Once again, he said he would remove it but I won't hold my breath!!

I just wondered if anyone had any more information about these calls? The number is exactly the same as the one in the first post.

    Call them on 01733 347 007.

Ask them to raise a concern/complaint and get a reference number. Its the only way to resolve the problem.

They will take your name, address, contact number and number they keep calling.
  • I got a call from this number about an hour ago, with an African sounding lady speaking. She said she was from Lloyds TSB and asked for my date of birth, but I was sceptical, and asked that they send me a letter. She said that wasn't possible, so I said 'Bye' and hung up. When I Googled the number though, this, and other links, confirmed it might be Lloyds, so I rang up the bank. I've spent the last twenty minutes trying to get through their security, and failed, presumably because they moved our branch from Eastgate St to Southgate St. I wish I'd trusted the first caller now, because I've mislaid my credit card wallet, and I suspect I may have done more than just drop it in my house somewhere.
