ISA Transfer Request Form Halifax to AL

Options
Hi there,

I have received a copy of a transfer request form to move my existing ISA fund from Halifax to AL.

Do I send the transfer form to my local Halifax branch or send it off to a specific department?

Thanks in adavance.

PS the AL ISA is at the rate before the drop.

Should you give it to a branch, I'm sure they would be able to forward it to the ISA customer services department or give you the correct address.
I had a quick look on the website but didn't spot it.

You'll probably save yourself the cost of a stamp if you let the branch handle it in internal mail. :)

Finally, if you just want to speak to them and get the address, there is a free 'call me back' option at the following url:

I was on the 'phone myself this morning to Halifax enquiring about the same thing, i.e. transferring my ISa to another provider.
The address they gave me to which the transfer form must be sent is.
    Halifax plc
    P O Box 548
    Leeds
    LS1 1WV
No particular department or anything, it will be sorted out using the above address.

Does anyone know how long it takes to transfer an ISA from Halifax to A&L? I've been waiting nearly a month, and I don't know if I should phone them to see if they've received the transfer form.

Update 03/05/06: My Halifax ISA was closed today, so its been nearly a month. I think the CAT standards used to say it should take no more than 30 days. Now I just have to wait for A&L to credit my account.

AN ETERNITY, if you ask me.
First took application for cash isa transfer form into A&L on April 1st. Still waiting - May 3rd!
Could see the money still sitting with Halifax. Rang after a couple of weeks, thinking that end of the tax year, they would be a bit busier. Halifax had never received the form sent by A&L. Rang A&L to check they had posted it. They don't keep a record of what forms they post. The guy at Halifax told me he could do it over the phone, all I needed was the sort code and account number to send it to A&L. Thought this was a bit casual, anyway followed it up. The account numbers from the A&L did not tally with what the Halifax could put in online, so decided to play it safe anyway, get A&L to send me a duplicate form for me to fill in the Halifax account no. from where the money was coming and post it to them myself. Sent the form to the address from which was posted my ISA Statement. Seemed a sensible place to send it. LOL. Another week/10 days passed. Inactivity. Chased both Halifax and A&L with no luck. Halifax still had no record of any request for transfer from my account and the guy suggested that I should get the A&L branch manager to contact the Halifax ISA Dept to sort it out. The long and the short of it, Transfer form no 3 is now on its way from A&L to Halifax, with a request that they ring to confirm it's arrived and being dealt with. This time the form is being sent to the address in Leeds, referred to above, as you say no special department.

The moral of the story, think twice before transferring and assume noone is doing anything. After about a week, get on the case.

I can't believe many of you have to send the forms to Halifax yourself - this shoul.d be A&L doing this

a transfer into Halifax - Halifax contacts any provider for the funds , not the customer

I quite agree, but that's not how life in the real world was in this case. I can now see as of today, that the Halifax account is closed, so hopefully money is in transit somewhere to A&L.!

Well, Halifax have completely screwed up my ISA!!!

I started a transfer on 7th April from my M&S isa to Halifax. The money was added to my ISA Saver Direct yesterday, backdated to the day after it left M&S...all good so far. I wanted it to be converted into a 1 year fixed rate ISA and was told by Halifax telephone banking that it would be quicker if I arranged this in branch. So I went to the branch near to where I work. The adviser attempted to convert it into a fixed rate ISA, but something went wrong and apparently my ISA now shows "void" status!!! I watched as she tried to resolve it by phoning the ISA transfers-in department. She was passed around from department to department, asked to phone number after number all to no avail. I was asked to pop back a bit later, which I did, but then I was told that nothing could be done about it today and I should come back tomorrow.

I'm going to have lost today's interest, but telephone banking said I will have this backdated. I'm going to ask them to put that in writing. I'm really hacked off right now. I've been told that it can be resolved, but the extra hassle of having to visit the branch repeatedly is really annoying.

Ditto. My transfer into the Halifax fixed rate ISA from Nationwide hasn't gone to plan either - I was told the branch didn't get the forms completed correctly and so at the moment it is in a variable rate ISA - been very slow and the problem still not resolved. Awaiting new forms to arrive from Leeds. I am concerned that they will close the 5% fixed rate before the problem is resolved.

    Hi miaxmia,

The 5% rate maybe not being available for much longer worries me too. The bank manager told me that the current rate should be available until the end of this month, at least. I hope so. Hopefully, when I go back tomorrow it'll all be resolved. I don't know why converting the variable rate ISA into a fixed one is causing them so much trouble. I hope yours gets resolved soon too. Please do give us an update. I'll post the outcome of my appointment tomorrow.

    Hi Kazza,
It was both my husband and myself who transferred our ISAs to the Halifax. The paperwork came through for me to sign new form for the variable ISA and then another form to put it into the fixed rate of 5%, but my husband's didn't have the form to transfer to the fixed rate and is still awaiting this. We actually went into the branch towards end of March to organise this, so I shall be fuming if he loses the 5% deal. However, my husband made them put a note on the screen that "because it is their mistake we don't expect to be penalised if the rates drop" - Halifax in Leeds are supposed to be ringing us back, but that was two days ago!!!
