2006 Virgin Mobile free broadband offer

Did anyone else take up the free broadband offer when you took out a 15ppm
contract with Virgin mobile back in 2006 ?
I did and today I received a letter from them stating that this was a 12 month only deal and they have forgotten to bill me for the last two years!
I'm 99% certain that the original terms of this offer was for free broadband for as long as you kept your mobile contract with no 12 month restriction.
But of course after 3 years I cant find any paperwork in my possesion to support my claim.
Virgin media and moble both say it was for 12 months only so I'm stuffed, unless another money saver also took out the same deal and kept more of their paperwork?
thanks
Marc

I have the same deal and have also received the letter today. It was definititely only 12 months free.

I had the mobile costs reduced ages ago when I told them I was leaving so only pay £10 per month now.

Sadly, it was only for 12 months (from memory rather than paperwork). Our connection is so slow that I had assumed that they couldn't even detect that I was on their system.......

£17.99 seems a bit steep for a poor service.

Thanks for the replies, as it seems I was mistaken and it was only 12 months free I feel a bit guilty now!
So what are the chances of me ringing the retentions department and getting a similar combined mobile/broadband deal for less than 25 quid a month ?

get a simplicity sim from o2 via quidco and o2 internet http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/452840/o2-home-broadband-with-quidco-works
all for a potential £153.40 per year ,cheaper than virgin and the sim has more mins more texts and unlimited internet bundled with it as a bolt on
that is what i have found and am seriously considering unless virgin can come up with something when i phone them

My bundled deal has also been cancelled too. I managed to get Virgin media to pricematch 02 at £7.34 per month for unlimited broadband when i asked for my Mac code. Also managed to get them to chuck in a new netgear router too. I'm still paying £15 a month for 300mins on my sim only mobile package though.
  • Advice on quidco please - can't find a relevant forum so not sure where to post this - have taken the plunge and ordered 02 deal through quidco - am very nervous about it working due to all the technical jargon - so downloaded google chrome for sole use with quidco, but don't know if there will be any problems - I have windows vista - will just have to wait and see - a bit of a gamble really!
Also want to buy cheap phone (£20 or less) to use with deal - any ideas please?

I had the same letter today. I also rang for my MAC code and they offered a landline and broadband deal for £25. I turned it down and went to o2 broadband (which is still offering the first 2 months free). Can't say I'm sad to leave although the free broadband was nice while it lasted!

Just for reference here's the Moneysavingexpert.com forum thread for the deal when it originally appeared:
