MOT Certificate

Can anyone help me here? I have tried looking on the Direct Gov site and on here but have not found a answer

My MOT certificate expires on the 19.08.09. For personal reasons I am getting it checked tomorrow at a garage I have used before and trust. If it fails am I still able to use the car until the 19th or do I have to get it sorted before I use it again

I suspect the latter

Thanks

If you are not having an MOT tomorrow the current MOT will still be valid.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Your current MOT is valid until the 19th - regardless... which is why alot of people have their test early, so that if they do have any problems, they have plenty of time to get it sorted before it runs out.

For confirmation, call VOSA or speak to your MOT inspector.

Yep always best to get it done early, but, be aware that if it does prove to have a dangerous fault it will be logged and you may be advised not to drive the vehicle which effectively means your old certificate is void.

But of course thats favourable to driving something in a dodgy state;):T
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Your current MOT proves your car was roadworthy last August, nothing else. If you get it done now and they fail it then basically the car is unroadworthy and you are now aware of this, should you crash or be stopped you cannot attempt to deny knowledge of this matter. Should it fail on something more serious you could be dealt with for dangerous driving.
However if you get it done early the new one will run until 12 months from the date of expiry of the last one as it has less than 1 month to run.

    .

    I don't think so.
  • Well in the end it worked out OK, my car did fail on a rear wheel bearing but its going back on Thurday to be fitted and retested. I was quoted between £50-£100 which is fine, it could have been a lot worse. I do have to drive but between then and now but only a couple of very short trips. The garage did not sat anything about not driving it

    Thanks for everyones help :)

And I don't either, it fails, old mot void as said before, not proof of dg or anything else:rolleyes:

" Dangerous Driving " is down to the driver, not the vehicle.;)
