Hi guys
I am really sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I couldnt see where else to put it. I have had this e-mail. Do you think its genuine?? Is it something we should be doing??
THIS IS NOT A JOKE - CHECK HOW EASY IT IS TO GET YOUR HOME ADDRESS DETAILS BY PUTTING
IN YOUR NAME AND TOWN - HAVE YOUR DETAILS REMOVED ASAP
CIRCULATE TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN
Paul
Its a bit of a worry, people can find out where you live by tapping in your name.

Please read the below - it's terrible - you may want to remove your details also!!

Dear All
It will pay to look yourself up and keep circulating this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A website has been brought to my attention that may pose a risk. The website is https://www.b4usearch.com and by clicking on 'People' and typing in an individuals name and area it brings up their home address, phone number, details of other members in the household, details of neighbours in the same street and also directions to your home.
I would advise that if your details can be accessed via this website, that you have them removed. To do this send an email to privacy@b4u.co.uk and your request should be removed within 21 days if they are not removed within this time you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office by sending an email to compliance@ico.gsi.gov.uk

I deleted the personal information myself as I didn't feel comfortable posting that on the site.

There is a facility to ask for your details to be removed on the actual site but it requires you to give your phone number(s) and email address.
Why would phone numbers be needed for a removal request, especially if all it takes is an email - which presumably you wouldn't put your phone number in?
Anyone used the site removal bit as opposed to an email?Herman - MP for all!

got mine removed, but even after they remove it a search on your neighbours or other members of your household will mean you are still there.UPDATE-192.com also gives out the same info0

They collate the information from the Electoral Role in addition to the likes of NTL and BT who pass on such information for a price. If you don't want your information to be shared, there is a box on the electoral role form which requests that your information isn't passed on or sold to these companies, you can request the same from the phone companies. But they simply make a mistake and fail to update their databases sometimes. With the Electoral Role it's not worth ticking as they don't honour it. I know this as I have been ticking it since I moved and requesting that my details aren't passed on to any 3rd parties from my phone provider, they still got my name and address.
They also seem to work in the same way as 192.com in that they have at one time paid for that information and so its theirs. There is no going back. You are on the list and you will stay on the list. Both b4usearch and 192.com have offices outside of the UK and so the data protection commisionair can't do anything to them as the information is kept outside of the UK.
If you are so concerned about the validity of the email, phone the telephone number on the email ... yes I know its an outdated form of communication. But it's more secure than email.
At least with b4usearch you don't have to subscribe to more junkmail in order to see the details as you do with 192.com.
You've got to admire the speed at which the police got onto this though haven't you. The sites been live for at least a year, there are links provided when you purchase a dell laptop in the favourites. So it's not as though its a secret or anything. I personally have used the site as a reference whenever I have sold something to anyone. I provide a link to my own address so they can see I live here. So the existance of such things isn't all bad.It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
Oh wow, I might be able to find my dad. I have been looking for him for years, and this might help. thank you0

all you needis a sirname and a list of counties.0

Personal details have been on the interweb for years. Dogpile.com, 192.com and now this. I wouldn't worry as it's the same information that companies could obtain easily anyway. It doesn't show your credit record, how many kids live there or your inside leg measurement, and its about 12 months out of date too...0
