Vent about morissons!

Just wanted to rant about a recent trip to morissons, know it probably wont help but hey a problem shared and all that lol

Any way last Sunday I was shopping in Morissons with my 2 small children when I saw the garden furniture set i liked was half price from £150 to £75! I decided sod it I will buy it I have not treated myself for ages and have nothing to sit on in the garden after the old donated stuff going rotten. I approached the H&L assistant and asked if I could pay for it and collect later as it would not fit in my car, especially with the kids in the back. The assistant explained that I could not pay for it and leave it but that they would happily keep it aside for me.
So off I went up to my sisters and asked if she would mind picking it up for me as her car is much bigger. She said no problem but would I mind waiting till the Monday when her kids were at school, she said she would phone and make sure that was ok with the shop. When she phoned customer services said that was no problem and they would pop it through the back.
On the Monday we went in at lunch time to buy it and yes they had kept it aside for me but what no-one bothered to tell us that it went back up to full price that day!!!!!:mad::mad:
I was absolutely fizzing, and I hate to admit it but was actually in tears when I left I was so disapointed!
I complained to the manager but was told there was nothing he could do. I have written a letter to customer services but wont hold my breath!

lol Can you tell it really wound me up! My fingers went at one hundred miles an hour typing that out ;)

Hope you are all ok

Erm, not being funny, but how do you know the staff members you spoke to knew the price was going back up? And even if they did, it's not their fault it went back up in price. Prices go up and down all the time, that's the way retail works, and a lot of the time you don't find out until the price is changing, I've been into work many times to find there were a couple of hundred price changes that needed to be actioned that day. The reason they wouldn't let you pay for it and leave it there is all down to insurance of the goods (i.e. If the store burns down overnight, your item isn't insured)

You had the opportunity to purchase it at the lower price, it's not Morissons fault it wouldn't fit in your car. And to be quite honest, I'm actually amazed you have the nerve to write a letter of complaint to them. Did you write a letter of complaint to your sister as well, as if she'd have gone to pick it up the same day, you wouldn't have this problem.

Why do people insist on looking for someone else to blame when something goes against them? You can only blame yourself for a missed opportunity like this. Sorry.

To be fair, you asked them to keep it for you, which they did.
Not there fault that the price had increased in the meantime.

mwillets thanks for your constructive reply lol, actually on the Monady when I went to pick it up it was a different home and leisure assistant who actually said its a shame you didnt pay for it there and then and pick it up later so its nothing to do with insurance, simply that the origional assistant could not be bothered to take off the label and take it to the checkout. Secondly i appreciate what you say about hundreds of reductions however there are not THAT many big reductions like that in home and leisure in Morissons it might have occured to her to check. And finally no i did not write a letter complaint to my sister :rotfl:

...or full of people who ask a question, don't get the reply they wanted, and then throw their toys out of the pram.

well it is simple then isn't it, if you cannot answer the question constructively and be helpful, not spiteful, then go annoy someone somewhere else!

This board is praise, vents and warnings! the op vented and also legitimately warned others that this could also happen to them and they could avoid the upset and stress that she went through.

hey, it's Morrison's loss for not being more informative to their customers and I don't believe that the staff would not know when price changes are due to be implemented and on which days.

I work in a bank and we always get advance notice of when specific interest rates or offers are going to be withdrawn and am sure Morrisons will operate a similar policy.
