This challenge used to run every week (thanks to Moozie and PAP) but I have not seen it in a while so I hope no one minds but I need this to keep me on track ...

Hello everyone a010.gif. Welcome to the weekly spend challenege. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track.

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever. clapping.gif

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her around last year

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x

Good luck everyone.:T

Another failure for me this week from going out too much. This month has been a bit of a disaster I think this all stems from knowing I am getting a payrise in next month's wages and I am mentally spending the money already

Anyway I am going to try for £30 again this week to include everything including groceries (I don't usually count these) as that budget has already been depleated for the month with 2 weeks till pay day:o

I hope you all did better than me. Well onwards and upwards budgeteers.

Hi PP, thanks for the new thread.

I declare at 42p under budget, yay! So that's £9.58 spent of the £10 I'd set myself.

I found it really hard yesterday not to overspend, but managed in the end by overeating instead, which wasn't good, I ate too much chocolate, so hope I haven't undone the good work from last week!

Another £10 for me for next week please, PP.

  • Hello!

I've been away from MSE for well over a year and want to get back into it again - and I think this challenge is definitely for me... can I join in? Can I try to stick to £15 this week?

    Good to meet you all!

:hello: to all the newbies and of course to the regulars. I have updated the first post.

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend. I have been shopping today (something I quite dislike) and managed to get everything I needed to complete an outfit for a wedding under my expected budget so I am pleased with that.:j

Beencounting hope the chocolate does not affect your weight loss, although now I do fancy some chocolate

    Hey all

Just a quick one from me, am aiming for under £30, not sure i'll make it. Starting positively!!!!

It is absolutely brilliant having OH back, he's home for a month before back to work down south, so thinking expensive times coming up. But hey ho, would rather have him here and spend a little extra than being the other side of the world.

Colleen hope everything's still going well with the new man :happyhear sounds like you're getting on well and he sounds keen.

Well done on the wedding oufit pp. there's always something to pay for or new outfit to buy, (or is that just me) we've just been invited to a 30th birthday in 4 weeks, and have 3 weddings to go to in August.

Hope everyone has a good week.

I'll go for £30 again this week, hopefully not spending it all so I can top up the Loan Busting Account like I did this week!

  • Morning all,

I have tried to do this challenge in past months and failed completely.

However last week i had to give myself a budget - it was all the money i had I had a grand total of £34 to live on for the whole week, i have to say i had no idea how i was going to make it but and wait for it, make it i did!

I have £10 and a few coppers left, total spend for the week. £24 ish pounds. So i can do it,

Can you put me down for £30 this week, will report back later in the week. :j
