can i change i am on fixed price 2011

I signed up with British Gas fixed price as above does that mean i cannot change supplier.

    Yes you can switch supplier - but you'll probably incur cancellation charges.

    Refer to your contract or contact BG for details.

  • You would face charges

    £70 for gas
    £30 for elec

    (And note that sometimes a supplier will waive the penalty if you switch to a different one of their own tariffs.)

    * Well, not unless they find an excuse to have to raise the prices by the usual margins come the start of winter.

    I dont think people that stayed on the 2009 cap regretted it. So far the prices have dropped by 10%... and less with other companys big deal lol.

    Someone using the average UK consumption of 3300kWh/20500kWh electricity/gas in my area would have projected savings of £217pa by switching to BG Websaver3(the cheapest) and slightly smaller amounts with other companies.

    Your savings will vary according to your consumption/area. If you do intend to switch to Websaver3, it is worth doing as Kim above suggests and seeing if they will waive the penalty - 'threaten' to leave BG?

    You also need to take a view about what will happen with prices over the next 2 years.
