Yes you can switch supplier - but you'll probably incur cancellation charges.
Refer to your contract or contact BG for details."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
You would face charges
£70 for gas
£30 for elecHis Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0 -
(But if you are a normal user you would save a lot more than £100 between now and Sep 2011 if you switched.)*
(And note that sometimes a supplier will waive the penalty if you switch to a different one of their own tariffs.)
* Well, not unless they find an excuse to have to raise the prices by the usual margins come the start of winter.0 -

I dont think people that stayed on the 2009 cap regretted it. So far the prices have dropped by 10%... and less with other companys big deal lol.His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0 -
Someone using the average UK consumption of 3300kWh/20500kWh electricity/gas in my area would have projected savings of £217pa by switching to BG Websaver3(the cheapest) and slightly smaller amounts with other companies.
Your savings will vary according to your consumption/area. If you do intend to switch to Websaver3, it is worth doing as Kim above suggests and seeing if they will waive the penalty - 'threaten' to leave BG?
You also need to take a view about what will happen with prices over the next 2 years.0 -
