I do hope people take advantage of this. A work colleague of mine aged only 43 collapsed and died while playing football with his mates the night before he was due to go on holiday with his family. A total tragedy.

Thanks - Booked me and my fiance in for Manchester on the 24th. I'm not even 30 yet but ever curious if it's to do with my health! :)

What a great idea this is and a great lil' find! Thanks OP.

    xx
  • Yes, a very good idea. It is particularly relevant if any young person has fainted, had and palpitations or any dizzy spells or shortness of breath. Even if you think it’s nothing it’s worth getting checked out. But relevant for any young person even if you think you are completely healthy. Nonetheless, if something isn't diagnosed then it can't be treated.

My brother died of an undetected heart condition aged 17. His 4 year old daughter also sufferes from it and our whole family are regularly checked out. We're the lucky ones. Because my brother died, his daughters condition was detected and she now has the chance to live a long and healthy life. We're massive supporters of CRY and they are an excellent organisation.

If there isn't a free screening going on near you, then set one up for yourself! If you have a sports centre or large group of people then CRY will come and do a screening for you (see details on the website "www. c-r-y. org. uk" ) But if you have concerns then go to your doctor! It's so easy.

I fully applaud this scheme, good find OP. I have Long QT Syndrome, which I found out about 6 years ago when I had a cardiac arrest at the age of 30. So had I been tested, I'd of found out before. I am one of the lucky ones, a lot of people with my condition don't know they have it and unfortunately have an arrest and don't wake up. So if you are in the age range, please go get tested :)

Brentford is Zone 4 (or zone 2 to Hammersmith and bus) so while it's hardly central London it's not in the sticks either!
