I use to be a huge fan of Debenhams and adored their clothes both for myself and my children, but in last 18 months they have drastically gone downhill. Their website is a nightmare, it constantly crashes when a sale is on. They permantly have a sale on and market it as a "one week only" sale when it's just a load of jumble sale rubbish they can't sell.

If you actually managed to purchase anything during sale time then you have to keep your fingers crossed for days to see if you're actually going to get it.

Their customer service is the worst EVER, if you correspond by email you may if very lucky get a reply with the worst typing you've ever seen, they don't use spell check and write anything they feel like. On the phone it's not much better.

Recently their clothes have been really awful especially for kids, half of it I wouldn't pay 50p for.

So come on Debenhams get your act in gear!

The kids clothes are nice, sometimes you can find some really nice stuff.
Prices are not great, but for really nice I am willing to pay.
The sizes however are terrible!
Does anyone else find this?
My son is consistently 2-3 sizes bigger at debenhams than ANY other shop. Its really annoying as whenever anyone buys him something from there I have to take it back. It doesnt seem to matter what brand, ted baker, j junior, a+a ect they are all so so small made.
Unfortuately my son got a lot of debenhams clothing on his 1st birthday, all 12-18 months. Had to take it all back. He was still in 9-12 at asda, next, tesco you name it, but at debenhams 18-24 was too small still.

A lot of their pineapple stuff was reduced by 50% today, got a nice work out top for £11 instead of £22. Good deal

Why people bother to touch the debenhams website is beyond me, it gets such a lot of bad press i wouldnt even waste my time on it.

There are loads of bras in the sale, alot of things have 20% off it anyway...pineapple is going to be no longer.

2009: Start saving for a mortgage! Target: £20,000. So far: £1114.

Just wondering if anyone knows when the Debenhams sale ends? I planned on popping into town tommorow to pick up a few bits but I don't want a wasted journey if it's already finished.

The website is terrible, no stock control - so you order things, pay for them, have the money taken from your card - and then when you call 10 days later to chase it up are told it's out of stock, & they'll refund your card, well that's good of them isn't it!

I've been using the website a lot recently and haven't had any trouble at all with anything I've ordered. Usually the stock is up to date - maybe they've changed their systems. I love their designer brands and love their sales even better

I knew the Debenhams sale was online from reading MSE. It was the first day of the sale and the site was down! I've ordered from them in the past (just the once) and never again. Customer services is bad. I only went to check online as I wanted to see what was on in the sale so I could call into Debenhams. Debenhams and M & S are the two worst online stores.

I've tried to order things, then find they are no longer in stock and have to wait for a refund - what a waste of time - the worst website for stock control and as for customer services they are a joke.

I am still waiting on a refund for something since Feb and no amount of chasing makes a difference - and each time I called to get an update, got a different response..

One set of items was nothing like the picture on the website, returned this aswell and still waiting for a response as they haven't come back to me since it was picked up by courier (a lady came with a small child in a car and gave me a sticker as proof). Still no refund after two months

Bunch of jokers

Try writing to the chairman of Debenhams. I did that when I made a complaint to M & S and got a refund and an apology for being messed about. Not sure of the name of the person to write to for Debenhams but if you google it something will come up.

Just to clarify that Debenhams have recently changed the company which fullfils orders, it is now the same company which Next use, this should be filtering through with improved stock control etc.

I'm hooked on shopping online with Debenhams and have had a very different experience than reported above. The website can be slow but apart from that, it doesn't keep me from the bargains! I always use codes for discount and free delivery and often wonder how it pays them to send the stuff to me as I return a fair bit of it - free as well. Delivery is usually within the stated 5 days and I'm on first name terms with my courier - as you can imagine!

I got an order delivered to me yesterday and although my delivery note quoted the correct two items, one item I received was not mine

As reported by Summer01, I have had items delivered that I didn't order. There's no problem with getting refunded for them but often the 'wrong' item was way more expensive than what I actually ordered and I could have just kept it and paid the lower amount. It seems a bit chaotic at times. Forgot to add above that I always go through Quidco for an extra 4% and they always honour these payments.

It's reassuring to know it hasn't just happened to me!
The item I had was more expensive but not really my style/size so couldn't have kept it

Note you dont get refunds on any items that have been discounted more than 50%......just found out today! They only give exchanges or credit note.

mutley74 - yes I found this out aswell, but they don't tell you at the tills when you pay.

It may state this on the back of the receipts but you don't see that until after you've made your purchase

When I go there I don't really read their board thing that might state something in ickle writing

When you arrange collection for the incorrect items do you have to wait in for them all day on collection date or do you just take them into store?
