There was someone on here a little while ago who said that this was going to be the best ISA around, and would be really amazing. It hardly seems like that to me. As it's a variable rate, I can easily see the rate dropping like a stone after the start of the new tax year. And you can't transfer in. I think Halifax's 3% fixed (with unlimited deposits, including transfers in, and restricted but instant withdrawals) is much better. And I think First Direct have a similar one at 3.1%, but I'm not sure of the details on that.

I do not see the benefits of ISA in the tax year 2009/2010 with the rates barely above the ground

Thanks rb10 for that info - i did not know about Halifax - it looks the best right now. I need to transfer 6K and start new 3K. A fixed 3% with four withdrawals looks like the best option - I have looked into natwest transfers too - it looks complicated. But check first direct 7% - that might be better for new isa.

If you have £30,000 plus to put in an ISA the Lloyds are offering a Fixed Rate ISA at 3.20% and this will allow transfers in.
