EDF's new eco20:20 tarrif

Options
anyone know if the price comparison sites have included EDF's new eco off peak tarrif (20% off eves/wends) ?

I run a load of servers at home and have a constant 1KWH draw, so this might be a good thing for me but i can't see any mention on it on the usual sites...

are there any sites out there that allow you to specify when you use the electricity ?

thanks Will

I dont think its on the comparison sites yet (or even if it will be) I would imagine they would need to fit smart meters (like First Utility) in order to see how much you use in the night/weekend times.

Last I heard EDF were fitting Smart meters on a trial basis in some areas, so not sure if this 20 20 thing will be the same.

I have just signed up to this today after looking at all the different things at the mo and this seems fantastic. For the East Midlands area it costs 17p during the day primary and then 10p after that during the day and then the cheap time rate is 8p between the hours of 9pm and 7am the next day. Then for the weekend from Friday 9pm till Monday 7am it's classed at the cheap rate of 8p throughout the whole weekend.

They do have to come out and remove the old meters and put a new one in (even if you do currently have an E7 one as I have). I am tied in for 12 months although I can come off it for a fee of £50 as this is the cost of installing the new meter. If the prices do come down mine will follow as it's not fixed.

I can't wait, I'm feeling really positive about this. :)

My Ecomony 7 is 10p daytime and 5p night rate. EDF Eco 20:20 is therefore very expensive!

Surely this Eco 20:20 is not competing against Economy 7, but those on a normal tariff.

Plushchris' enquiry is what matters. If the Tier1 allocation @17p is 900kWh pa then it certainly is worth looking at (provided there is no hidden catch)

For instance BG websaver(which is normally one of the cheapest tariffs) for the East Midlands is:

    Tier 1 is 21.601p for 500kWh pa
Tier 2 is 9.965p for the rest.

Those prices include VAT and there is a DD discount and a Dual fuel discount.

So for 58 hours at the weekend when kids and adults are likely to use more electricity(TV/cooking/computers etc) you are getting electricity 20% cheaper. Plus of course after 9pm weekdays.

The devil will be in the detail.

Similar with me 15p and 7p. The standard rate EDF website quoted me was 25p and 14p (and it "calculated" somehow that I'd be better off with EDF)! Even with 20% off it's more expensive so they'd have to offer me more than 20% off to make it worth my while.

Unfortunately it looks like another one of these get people to switch and hope they won't notice they're not actually better off schemes...

    15p and 7p for what?

That is not a 24/7 tariff available for new users.

If it is E7 then it is not what 20:20 is targetted at.

I'm assuming these are prices either fixed a long time ago or subject to a standing charge on top of them (if so not a fair comparison)?

Doesn't seem to be anything on their website about this tariff; and I also notice that Economy 10 is not available for new customers.

    Anyone got full details?
