Help!!!
Something's gone wrong.
Technical stuff (!!!) -- point 'arrow' at ,say a web address (on MSE) the 'egg timer'
comes on, then nothing happens. Can't scroll up or down. Just sticks.
Go to the Start to switch off, but this box appears - 'problem install winfixer'.
I KNOW there's a problem, but before I can read the info on 'winfixer' it disappears.
This problem has only started in the last couple of days. Only item I've downloaded, a few days ago, is the updated version of Google Earth. Could this be anything to do with prob?
Is winfixer ok? Advice appreciated - in simple terms please!!!!!!

Hi .
Looked at this site. Advice again please - should I click on to 'xoft spy' ?
I'm a bit paranoid about clicking on to anything at the moment.:grouphug: A smile, a 'please' and a 'thank you' cost nothing0 -

Yep. Especially in the last week or so.
Maybe something else, other than Google Earth, that I've downloaded and forgotten about?
PS
Pop up blocker is on:grouphug: A smile, a 'please' and a 'thank you' cost nothing0 -
You may well be infected with something nasty.
Have a look at this thread for more help. It was put together by the techie experts.

OK< firstly I'm not an expert so if anybody know more than me, please jump in.
I kept getting pop ups inviting me to load Winfixer. Once you get that you're already infected. Apparently, if you go to the Winfixer site, you can load their software. The lead you to believe that this is actually good for you PC, in fact it isn't, it's spyware. Do dupe you though, it will occasionally pop up a nice little screen to give you confidence that it's actually doing something - steer clear.....
So, how do you get rid of it....apparently, with great difficulty unless you have the right tools. I suggest you look here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum22.html The guys on that site were a great help to me.
Basically you need 2 tools that you can download freely from the internet. The first is called "hijackthis". From what I understand, it checks/scans you PC (particularly the "registry" - whatever that is...)and produces a logfile. If you then post the logfile on the above site, the experts there will tell you what to do.
It's likely that you will then need to load a second utility called "killbox". It is important though that you print their instructions out first and COPY THEM EXACTLY. Killbox can do your machine more harm than good in the wrong hands. I on't want to frighten you because I found the whole process reasonably straightforward. If in doubt, get an expert to help you.
Once again, I'm not an expert. I have simply had the same experience....
Good luck.....0 -

Don`t do anything for the mo,if you bear with me,I`ll post how to get rid of Winfixer for free0 -
Is it worth doing a system restore to a couple of days ago or would that not help? Like you I'm not a 'techie' but would try this as a last resort.
