Helppp!!!
Today my daughter and I helped rescue a gorgeous little stray dog that had been spotted roaming about outside her school for a few days. Poor little boy was absolutely freezing, starving and obviously had some sort of skin condition.
He was really, really placid and so I thought I'd take my own pup home and go back and collect him, then take him to the local RSPCA.
Well, what a carry on I had. They were closed, no one there. Dog warden was on answer phone (although I didn't really want to go along that route) so I rang my vet and the lady I spoke to said I could take him in there (although she shouldn't really have told me that, apparently) - so off I went to the vet.
When I got there, this other vet nurse appeared from behind the scenes and started saying "we can't possibly keep him here, blah, blah and started spouting off the reasons why" - I said I had a young pup at home and I couldn't take him, so what was I supposed to do??? She then started saying the places I'd already tried - and I was getting more and more angry about the deplorable animal welfare in this country.
Fortunately, there was another lady there with her two dogs who overheard what was happening. I'd already said I had to be somewhere at a certain time, so she said she would have her partner come and collect her dogs and take them home and she'd wait with the stray. (He wasn't chipped, they checked that first)
So while this lady was in with the vet, I left my number to be given to her.
She's just rang and said that she has to take him to the kennels this evening, where the strays go, and that if no one claims him within 7 days, he's a goner.
7 days!!!! I ask you!
Not only that, but the vet gave him a good check over, and has said that he's not an old dog as I previously thought but is only 2 years old! His skin was just in a poor condition because of the cold - poor wee soul.
So plllleaeeease someone tell me how to stop this lovely little boy from being put to sleep - he's ever so placid and sat cuddling in to my daughter when he was in the car.
He's about the same size and shape as a Border Terrier, black and tan in colour.

Well as he is so placid as you said, why dont you try and take him in and see how he gets on with your dog and family.
If it doesn't work out, then you can find a non evil kennels that doesn't put poor dogs to sleep for no fault of their own.0 -
Aww I'm sure this dog will find a home, please do check everyday on him and try to get him removed before the 7 days is up. Goodluck. Have you tried the dogs trust or dogpages?0

Yorkshire has a terrible problem with too many unwanted dog at the moment and the pounds are overflowing. However he sounds like an easy boy to rehome, do you mind if I post this to a webpage where people may be able to help? I will assume not and just do so as time is short!0

link to list of northern rescue sites
should include west yorks
try your local paper as well - they love a good sob story, and may publicise the fact he is looking for a homeI don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
