Roll up, Roll up! November - The NSD Challenge....!

Options
 Evenin' my lovelies, and welcome to November's NSD Challenge!

It's only a few (short, cold & dark  ) days until November so I thought I'd have a little play and see if I could get this set up now.

You'll all have to put up with me even more than usual this month :D as Lilmissmup is having a month off after looking after the challenge beautifully during September and October, and before that Angeldiva ran the August Challenge and Wanttobeasaver originally started this challenge in July.
I'm hoping to learn the magical secrets of the lovely big shiny trophies9.gif and stars 2053360965_0ad7950ade_t.jpg and if not - we'll think of something. (H-E-E-L-L-L-P!!! )

The aim of this challenge is to plan to have some No Spend Days this month. It doesn't matter how many you plan for - everyone's life is different. We all support each other and post to say how we're doing.

(See - it's easy! :D )

The Rules

1) You set your own rules!

Most people don't count bills and direct debits, and it's probably best not to count regular expenses that you aren't planning to reduce , or that you can't do anything about - such as the kids dinner money / pocket money or your train fare to work etc.

Ebay posting doesn't count cos the buyers pay for that.

After that...it's up to you.

Some people count food shopping and some don't. (I do cos otherwise I would sneak all sorts into my trolley!)

Some count petrol and some don't.

The basic rule of thumb is: If it's a regular expense and you can't reduce it - then don't count it.

If you declare on here what will count with you and what won't it helps other posters figure their own plan out.

If you want to see how it all works, October's challenge is here:

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1182945

and if you still have questions, then ask away my lovelies! :D

So...How many are YOU in for????

Love Jacks xxx :D

  • I haven't done this challenge before, so i'm aiming relatively low. I know that i already manage 5 or so days a month without trying so I'm going for 12.

I think thats reasonable for me, I just need to think more about what i'm spending and why! :D. Less chocolate being bought at lunchtime will help!

    Hi Jacks

Thanks for getting this going - after failing miserably last month (7/10) I am in for 8 this month. This is realistic given all the things I have to do this month.

I really need to get my rear end back into gear. I started towards my old habits of frittering money away. I'm starting to learn what my trigger points are. One of them is Central London - I just love to spend in the fab shops. I have another trip during November and I will resist.

I feel that this will be a good month - my salary has gone up, my mortgage will be changing to a tracker. Now I really need to get my spending under control.

    Good luck everyone.

  • ooh ooh, I missed this challenge last month but would like to sign up this month as I know NSDs are a really good way to stop me from buying something silly in town when I'm walking home. According to my spending diary, I'm up to 9 NSDs this month without particularly trying, so I'm going to try for 15 in November as a challenge.

Thanks for organising it Jacks :D
