It was the labour government that allowed these Icelandic Viking raiders to get into the country and steal our savings

getting our money back 100% is the least they can do!

"The Icelandic government, believe it or not, have told me yesterday they have no intention of honouring their obligations here," said Mr Darling.
"Because this is a branch of a foreign bank the first call would be on the Icelandic compensation scheme which, as far as I can see, hasn't got any money in it.
"The British scheme would top that up to £50,000, but people over and above that would lose out," he added. "But I have decided in these exceptional circumstances that we will stand behind those depositors so they get their money back."

Does he mean people with over £50k will get everything back above that anyway, but forget about the first £16k?! Or is he saving us completely?

After several sleepness nights and worried days, having way above the limit in a 12 month bond due to mature in a few weeks time, this is excellent news. Will vote Labour forever! When the money comes through then straight to Northern Rock.

Maybe the OP should consider ID card scheme and what that'll cost, GCHQ web browsing database, DNA database, 10p tax events, war in Iraq and that Gordon Brown is in total denial about any responsibility for what's happening to the financial system.

Where wereyou on Black Wednesday. Do you remember Norman Lamont, and his then assistant David cameron ?
It was not Alistair Darling who got you in this mess, but he's getting you out of it.

Proof positive that, although the practice has been illegal for centuries, votes can still be bought in this country.
