I subscribed to what I thought was a legal music download company. the site was 360share when I went to buy the product it took me to Limewire and when I purchased it took me to MP3Download.Com. I have submitted a post on these on the Techie board as apparently I am illegal. I have tried to contact the company but it is abroad and I wish to cancel my membership under the 7 day money back guarantee and also to ensure they do not access my card next year as it was for a one year subscription. I thought I was doing the right thing for my kids by paying for the music site but apparently not. Can anyone advise how to get my cash back without phoning abroad.

Their credit card entry page is unencrypted . The legal-looking agreement given in small print does not give the name of the company you are dealing with. I can't see any address or phone no. or even email address anywhere on the site. You should contact your credit card company. They are not legally obliged to refund you but they might do so voluntarily. Make sure you tell them that you've not authorised a recurring payment.

If you click on the support option on the site you'll see that none of the contact details are actually present - they're all fake links.0

To prevent a recharge next year (and any other charges) , in my opinion, the only safe bet is to report your card as lost. That way you will be issued with a new card with a different number. Once a merchant has your card number they can charge away, as you are unable to stop or query a problem until after it has hit your account.

With a Continuos Payment Authority, closing the account wouldnt be enough, I've had card protection from Sentinel charged on a credit card a year after it was closed. A CPA can only be stopped by the originator according to the British Banker's Association website. Martin has a post that might be of help: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=256"There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children; one of these is roots, the other wings" - Hodding Carter

That link makes grim reading. I have written to my CC company with all the information I had and asked them not to make any more payments that may be requested.
None of the support links on the web page for the Company work. I have had no reply to my emails to cancel the subscription under the 7 day guarantee and I only have an address abroad which I now think will be no good!
Not sure what my next step is.0 -
Further to my earlier posting and following comments re CPA (continous payment authority), if you report the card as lost or stolen, the new card will have a different number. Therefore, any one attempting to charge against the old card will be blocked. Any charges against the original card number will be refused as the account is effectively closed. Thus it is impossible for CPA to happen if the preseribed step is taken. Have you done this stressedout??

That is not correct!! If you report a card stolen/lost, you will indeed be issued with a new on, but any transactions which has been authorised on the old card will be accepted by the CC company. I should know because that's what happened to me. This is the same if you simply close the account; as I understand it, closing a CC account is not the same as closing a current account. The closed CC account apparently remains dormant for how long, I don't exactly know. But I do think that this is outrageous and should be stopped. Before doing something... do nothing0
