Sell Xmas cakes on ebay

Options
I've just typed 'christmas cake' in on ebay and found several people selling them. I thought it would be a good opportunity for O/S bakers to make some extra money for Chrsitmas. There would be no use in me doing it as I might poison someone. But I thought it was a good idea.

Juno, I've made Christmas cakes, pudding, mincemeat and mince pies for a friend with coelic disease, I just used the Doves Farm gluten free flour that you can buy in supermarkets. I used my ordinary recipes (apart from the suet in the mincemeat, I used Broadhursts vege suet as they don't dust it in flour) the flour was the only alteration.

I tried making a Christmas cake with the Glutafin flour I get on prescription, but it didn't work :( But I'll try the Doves Farm one if you say that works!

Sounds like a damn good Idea BS, unfortunately I have no time but for others who may be interested, don't forget that there are many many customs regulations on sending food abroad and it may not be worth your while trying to cater to overseas with this. Also, think about how would you post them out and gurantee you would get them there in one piece? Not worth doing if they arrive looking like the base of a trifle:D Not trying to squash the idea as I think it's a good one and these problems aren't insurmountable (sp?), but needs thinking through first IMHO;)

I'm not sure I'd fancy it, you don't know what state their kitchens are in, doubt they've been checked by environmental health!

Do you need to have some sort of certificate : food hygeine? to sell food.
I see people at car boot sales etc and hubby always says "you could do that" but is it officially allowed? (I know that if I did anything even slightly dodgy I'd get caught, I'm that sort of person). The school/ playgroup do it but is that just a case of the relevant authorities turning a blind eye?

The glutafin is RUBBISH! I persevered for years trying to make cakes and pastry things for my friend, I was so pleased when I found the Doves Farm flour.

    regarding the regulations etc....

I used to bake commercially for local teashops etc I needed to have the kitchen inspected by the Environmental Health office and I needed Public Liablilty Insurance - 1/2 million pounds worth in case I was ever sued

Thanks for that AT! :) Son's g/f is on wheat free diet due to coeliac disease. I'll try this flour - seen it in Tesco and local Health Food shop - and make some mincemeat aswell. I usually make Delia's recipe for mincemeat so guess what I'll be doing tomorrow! Thanks very much again:):)
