Half Price/Reduced Tassimo Coffee Makers

While its not the cheapest object Sainsburys is selling the Braun Tassimo coffee maker for £49.99. Do a check of the online comparison supermarkets and you'll see this normally retails at upwards of £90.
Or, if you want the Bosch Tassimo (there's a newer model being released so it's discounting the older ones) then Sainsburys says it's also reducing these in most, but not all, stores by between 20% and 50%. The level of discount depends on the store. (The MoneySaver who initially spotted the deal has found a Bosch one in their store at £50 so much of the early discussion is about that one.)
What's a Tassimo?
The Tassimo is a coffee-maker but also makes tea and hot chocolate as well. You buy discs, made by companies such as Kenco, Suchard, Twinings, which contain the coffee etc, which you pop in to the machine and away you go.
Why are Sainsburys selling them cheaper?
The retailer's doing this to clear its current stock as it's replacing its current Tassimos with a newer Bosch model instead. The offer's nationwide yet self-evidently as they're clearing stock, levels may be low. To avoid disappointment if you're making a specific trip use Sainsburys store locator first to find your nearest store and give it a ring first to double check the reduced priced machines are in stock.
Also get some discs for free...
Register your machine on the Tassimo website and as a thank you, you'll receive a voucher for free Tassimo discs (T-discs) as well as being added to its distribution list for news and special offers.
And as always before you buy ask yourself 'will i use it and is it worth it?'.
Many thanks to MoneySaver flatlander for the top spot!

Well that'll teach me not to buy stuff on a whim!!!
I paid full wack for mine last weekend.
Fantastic machine though, quieter than the old Braun machine and it doesn't 'vent' water into the cup holder that I forget to empty and then goes all over the work top!0 -
Does this take their own special "pods" of coffee or something?!?0
-
Ohhh I'm VERY tempted... Wanted a nice coffee machine for ages now but they're so expensive!0

We have one at work but I'm not that keen on it myself.
I'd say try the coffe before you buy...
I wasn't keen at first, I drink black coffee and found it rather weak until I discovered that the strong bit is at the bottom of the cup - I give it a stir now and it's lovely
If you find it's too strong you can add extra hot water from the machine by holding the button in.0 -
Thanks lofie... I won't buy it anyway if it takes special coffee... bad news...
Cheap machine but expensive coffee = not moneysaving (same with the posh razors you get)
If they aren't a success then in a few months time you won't be able to get the coffee anymore anyway...
Either way it could work out very expensive!
EDIT:
This on the other hand might be worth a look

If link doesn't work, search Argos for "Breville Instant Cappucino" (without the ") and its the £49.99 one...
If it takes instant coffee granules as i'm led to believe. From the Amazon reviews, might need to keep your receipt though as some comments that they may break a bit too often.0 -

I've had mine for 2 years. I find that large Tescos and large Sainsburys have the best selection of coffees and teas for it. Smaller stores tend not to carry the tea.
I order online direct from Tassimo a lot of the time, free delivery over £20.
But, like has been said, cheap machine, expensive coffee. Works out at about 18p/cup.0 -
I've had mine for ages now probably almost 2years and I love it. I bought a load of the coffee/tea when was in France last as was so much cheaper there - although with euro being so strong now not sure if this still works out so good. But if your over there anyway check it out as may still be better.0

Not sure if this will help anyone, but in my local Sainsburys (Southport, Lancashire) on Saturday the Tassimo Carte Noire pods were marked down from £2.75 to 75p (you had to look at the shelf ticket to see it had been reduced), they were well in date (dated sometime 2009), but none of the other sachets were reduced.
Might be worth checking other Sainsbury stores just in case.0
