It's Back.......For Two Weeks Only
The Argos up to 75% RO clearance will be coming back (somewhen) during the week starting 17/10/05 and lasting until the end October. After this the stock will be returned and sold off to other companies. (so expect to see more of “Argos sold this months ago for more money” on the shopping channels!)
However there are fewer lines of stock featured within it this time around! (Mainly due to this activity being later this year and the inclusion of items which sell slower and specialist items into the extra catalogue)
The actual amount in you local store will vary from store to store depending on how well the staff there have been selling RO the last few months.
There is also a small amount of RO in the distribution centres which you or the store can order in.
Yes you can order items from the distribution centres to be delivered to the store from online or over the phone by reserving them as usual – you end up with a reservation saying “will be available from today+3 days until today+5 days” or something along those lines. Not via text yet though.
Update 13/10/05: This is no longer true - all DC stock is being shipped to stores
There is no definitive RO list for the 75% reduced stock available so far and exact details won’t be available until it happens.
There are still going to be bargains to be had. For instance there is still some Sony and Olympus digital cameras, various brands of camcorders and various brands of In-Car-CD players. There is also the usual blend of discontinued Argos exclusive items and brands within ranges such as lights, furniture, luggage, sports backpacks and toys at silly prices.
There is also a small amount of jewellery and watches which may/may not be included.
Stumpy seems to have collected most of the catalogue numbers and descriptions for RO this year so there a good place to start. However a lot of items have been sold already during the last few months or returned to their original manufactures for sale elsewhere.
For a guide to “RO hunting” check out the sticky at the top of this board.
One thing missing is though is if you have the catalogue number and store name/number you could always use the text service if you are fortunate to have a generous mobile network giving you hundreds/thousands of texts a month for free.
All details subject to change at a moment’s notice (as ever)

Update 12/10/05: The date it starts is Wednesday 19th October. A leaflet will be avaliable in some stores with the top 100(ish) clearance lines in it.
Update 13/10/05: More updates as they come. (Also I'm trying to get hold of some info on the top 100 lines)

Stockie is talking about the RO Help thread at the top of the Argos board http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=36306
Sticky just meaning it's useful information which will stay at the top of the list of threads when new ones appear.0 -

I was after a Micro Hifi system for my study..... had settled on the Sony CMT-A50 (regularly £120+ everywhere else) and found it on clearance offer at Argos for £74.99......
Reserved one at the most local branch that had one in stock.... but it was a return and cosmetically damaged. Put it down to experience, and though I'd be passing another of the 3 today, so I'd reserve on Monday....
Went to reserve one on Monday morning to find it was no longer on the website for reservation...... on the off chance went to the store today to see if they had it.... they did, wanted to part pay with Nectar points (as far as I knew I had 500 points - sod all really, but may as well have it) - and the lass on the till said "you want to use the full £30?" - "are you sure, I only expect there to be about 650 points on there" - "oh yes, the computer says...." - "ok yes then"
So I've got my £120 hifi for £45- Gotta love Argos

In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -

Didnt plan to buy onebut was waiting in queue for something and spotted it on the shelf. It was the last one. So keep looking.0

Stockies post says WEDNESDAY 19thIt's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0
