Be paid £32.12 over 12 months for free evening/weekend calls!!

Options
The Primus Freetalk Plus 2 priceplan is advertised at 2.99 per month for free evening and weekend calls through uswitch.com. Although this offer (free evening/weekend calls) is available free through the Primus website, uswitch are offering a cashback of £5 per month for 12 months:

Monthly charges
Primus Freetalk Plus 2 £2.99
Line rental (Paid to BT) £11.00
Plan benefits

Sign up in February and receive a £5 monthly loyalty bonus, paid quarterly in £15 installments, for the first 12 months
Calls to other Primus Freetalk customers are free at all times
Free evening & weekend calls to landlines for £2.99 a month
Primus Freetalk loyalty bonus available to new customers only
See 'Special offer policy' tab for more information on uSwitch's offer inclusion criteria.

Am I understanding this right? It seems too good to be true!

*******

I just spoke to someone at Primus and apparently the above is the case, the difference between the 2 evening/weekend free call packages (one is free other is 2.99 per month) is that one is paperless billing and the other is paper based. If you sign up to the 2.99 per month Primus deal through uswitch you will be entitled to a cashback of £5 per month, include the £8 cashback through Quidco and effectively you will be paid £32.12 over the year for free evening and weekend calls!

Anyone considering the above option could also consider signing-up to Primus Freetalk Plus 3.

This all-inclusive (daytime, evening & weekend) plan is normally charged at £8.49 per month but signing up via Uswitch.com, will result in a £5 monthly loyalty bonus, paid quarterly in £15 installments, which then brings down the cost of this all-inclusive plan to only £3.49.

    Plan benefits
    • Sign up in February and receive a £5 monthly loyalty bonus, paid quarterly in £15 installments, for the first 12 months
    • Calls to other Primus Freetalk customers are free at all times
    • Free calls to landlines at all times for £8.49 a month
    • Primus Freetalk loyalty bonus available to new customers only

This is an online only account although I believe it is worth it for those that make more than 111 calls a month (when using Call1899) which averages out at about 3 or more calls a day for a month.

As usual all non-geographical calls (calls beginning 07x, 08x and 09x) are excluded. For these type of calls see Martin's UK Call Checker.
  • Hi everyone. I signed up to Onetel in April last year for 12 months with free evening and weekend calls. Does anyone know if after the takeover by Talktalk could I transfer to Primus and take advantage of their February offer or must I wait till April.

You don't have to wait until April as you weren't on any minimum term contract unless you moved your line rental from BT to OneTel within the last 3months. If not then you are free to sign-up to Primus on which ever option is best for you.
  • Thanks........
  • how the dickens do get to switch to primus option 2 using uswitch?

I can't seem to be able to get to the option where I can switch - only to option 1 and I don't want that!

If you want option 2 with no monthly fee then it appears that this can currently only be done by ringing 0800 036 0094 as mentioned on this page.

The free option is no longer available on the uswitch website (the nearest is their £2.99/month 'Primus Freetalk Plus 2 package). However, as that offers a £5/month 'loyalty bonus' for 12 months, it does, in effect, mean they'd be paying subscribers £2.01/month to make free evening and weekend calls).

The only way now to sign up for the originally 'best available' Primus Saver Option 2 appears to be to phone Primus direct on 0800 036 0094 after 12 noon on a weekday.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

But whatever details I put in I can't seem to get Primus option 2 as a result!!!
