We've been using a wash ball since last October, have had no probs, clothes that are a bit dirtier we use a bit of vanish on and we use a bit of oxi powder in the whites wash. We got ours from the ideal home show and just got the refills this time round can see exactly when to fill up this ball.Weight loss since 01/08/07 - 72 lbs:j0

These are a complete scam.
There is no scientific basis for them whatsoever.
People think they are working because most of the dirt on your clothes will come out with just water.
People like the idea of not using chemical, saving money and not carrying heavy powder.
I now use normal liquid but I am economical with the amounts because I don't believe you need to use as much as the manufacturers would have you believe.0 -
Hi everyone
I'm going to add these posts to the end of our long running thread on such "balls" - however much emphasis one might like to put on the word

Hi everyone
Been lurking about this site for months and months now but never plucked up the courage to post. This thread about wash balls has me utterly confused. I was considering buying the expensive eco balls £34.99,but there have been so many differing views on here.
However I went onto the Eco Ball website and right at the bottom i found the answer to my dilemma. Apparently you can try the balls for 30 days and if you are not happy you just return them with the box and can have all your money refunded. I would really like to think that they work - but what the heck, now I figure that the worst that can happen is that I get a months free washing product.
I don't have small children,no mucky footballers etc,so most of our washing is not really "dirty" just worn.I wash one dirty item a week and that is my daughter's jodphurs which stink of horses and are usually muddy.
Anyway Iwill be giving them a try.I may just save a fortune, and help my skin allergies too. :rolleyes:0 -
I bought some eco balls a few weeks ago and have been using them when clothes are not very stained but not sure about them now. Yesterday I washed a couple of towels which were a bit damp and had that musty smell to them . I washed them on a quick wash with ecoballs and when I got them out they still had a bit of that musty smell left so looks like I shall either have to wash them again with powder or throw them in the tumble drier with one of those smelly things. Has anyone else had this problem ?0

If I have towels that have gone a bit musty its the 60 quick wash with a bit of zoflora disinfectant in the last rinse.0

Hi all. :hello:
I recently brought a composter for home, through our local council.
I recieved comformation today along with a booklet on other green products. I quicky had a look through and saw "power wash balls"
They are 5 quid each, so quite cheap and they last for 50 washes (10p per wash) At the moment I am using gloop or tesco value washing power.
Has anyone else heard of them or tried them?
The link to the product is here http://www.evengreener.com/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=97

Lakeland sell something similar. I've heard mixed reports. I haven't used them myself but have heard that they are ok for light soiling but not much good on anything really mucky. I'm sure someone with first hand experience will be along soon....Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

I tried the ones from Lakeland and overall thought they were not as good as washing powder or even homemade stuff so haven't bought them again plus they didn't seem to last as long as I thought they would!!0
