Apparently, unless you have the auto top up feature enable and have topped up by £10, premium rate texts are barred. You can successfully send a text, but it will only be a standard text, as if you were texting a friend, which is why the texts are only costing you 10p a time.

The charity is not getting its £1.50, your balance is just going down by 10p a time.

    Sorry folks.
  • Yes I see Road_Hog but look at this! I have never registered for auto top-up and the Poppy one didn't reverse charge:( but another did!!
    Description Price
3 Premium rate text message -5.218
    Show all -5.218
1 Premium rate text message from 07962?????? -5.006
1 Premium rate text message from 80556 -0.118
    1 Premium text message to 85099 -0.094

Did notice that one says 'Premium text to' another 'Premium rate text from'

Yes, sorry I forgot one bit. If it is a premium rate short code, then what I said applies, i.e. if it is like the poppy number 85099. But if it is a normal long phone number like 07*** then I think that bypasses the rule.

    Taken from their website,

Premium Rate numbers (e.g. 09XX)75p, £1.50, £2.50When you call a premium rate number or any other pay service or information number. Please check the charges related to these calls as they may be per minute or per call depending on the kind of service you are calling. Some calls may be subject to a minimum call charge of one minute. If you have any doubt please contact our Customer Services Team.

    Please note:
Premium Rate services are only available to customers who have signed up to Auto top-up.

come on guys, lets get this one going.

i have now tried to donate £6.00 to the Poppy appeal and £3.00 to the Yorkshire air Ambulance. neither has worked and i am trying to use up my Easy Mobile credits (about £120.00 worth).

can can we get this thread rolling on who has actually donated successfully using Easy without the need for autotopup or anything else.

times running out, and i would hate the credits to be wasted.
  • pfpf are u saying promotional credit cannot be used on premium services? only sms and calls?

Well I've donated to Breast Cancer Care and Macmillan Cancer Support with my free credit using the links in this thread, and I don't have Auto-top-up.
  • It's not a charity but....

I Found a premium sms that works. Featured in sunday times style magazine yesterday. Two handmade scented candles in tins. (great for secret santas?)

One is coffee scented, one chocolate truffle. £5 by reverse sms charge. mine took 2 hours to show up on my easymobile account, but went through.

    text the word: Candle

followed by your name, address, postcode to:

    81800

allow 28 days for delivery (you get a text receipt)

    offer ends november 24th

(also posted this in other easymobile thread)
  • Apart from buying ring tones, I have found another couple of sites that allow pay by text (no idea if they are any good)

http://www.lumisoft.net/index.htm - can get a-z of london for phone

New age gifts shop that accepts payment by text

    http://secure1.mppglobal.com/ishop/234/Home.aspx?Guid=6652fb0899574ccc9ea426c6aeafb81d

Also seen that a Mint credit card allows credit card bill to be paid using text
