Cashback Offers Make New Phone a Bargin

I think I got a bargin with my new phone and the same deal might be available to other moneysavers...

I was with Orange PAYG for a few years but hardly used it because my phone was rubbish (terrible battery life)
I went into an Orange shop and explained that I liked the service and wanted to stick with them, but wasn't sure if a contract would be worth while: 'Do you have anything that isn't going to cost me too much per month that would let me see what I use?' (wearing hesitant look).
I was offered a 'normally Internet only' deal with 120 anytime cross network minutes and 30 text messages per month for £15/month, minimum contract 12 months = £180 total commitment. I could chose from a limited number of new handsets (don't care what features it has so long as the batter lasts longer than 24 hours)

I'm mulling over whether £180 is a reasonable cost for the phone plus 12 months, when the man serving me asks if I would like to trade in my old phone for £50 - so long as I have the charger. As it happens I do, so my bill for the year reduces to £130.

Then, he asks if I know anyone else on the Orange network ... I remember that my parents are both Orange users and volunteer Dad's mobile number. Dad gets £25 for 'recommending a friend' (!) and I get another £50 credit to my new account.

So I have committed to pay Orange £15 per month for 12 months, but I won't pay anything until I've worked my way through £100 worth of credit, plus they give me a brand new phone and 120 minutes + 30 texts each month.

I have had the phone a few months, and have yet to work out how they are going to make any money on the deal.

Note - I've noticed that my unused minutes and messages don't roll-over, which I'm told is because I'm on an Internet tarriff. I only use about half of them so it doesn't bother me, but it's something to be aware of.

i was looking at this recently and trying to work out the best way of racking up all the deals - i had the phone for the buyback offer but in the end couldn't use the family offer because i couldn't port to it (has to be a new number) they were also in the process of changing the instore offers and were stopping doing the direct / internet tariffs and none of the shop tariffs were really that good for me.

Just ordered this phone and if ive worked it out correctly it costs just £20 for the year.

    12 months@ £30 £360
    3 months 1/2 price saves £45
9 months free by redemption takes another £270 off the bill and by going through Quidco you get another £25 back.
My maths isn't brilliant but if it's right its a bargain:D

The best I can see from internet is "120 minutes to any network, anytime with 1/2 price line rental for 6 months" for £25. It comes to £225 (12.5*6+25*6) for whole 12 months.

Is trade-in can be done in internet orders?.

By brother is currently orange pay monthly customer and so If he refers me, then he gets £25 and I get another £50, is it?.

Generally the x months free by redemption take into account the network half price offer so don't be surprised if you only get £225 - if this is not the case then it is an even better deal - but not bad anyway.

If you accept cahback as boot advantage points then you can get 360 quids worth for 12 months 315 quid rental from Boots phones on most 3 phones.
    I think....

Your cashback is £315 instead of my £312.Also £25 from Quidco
which has actally increased from £22 recently.
    Who is this with?

I phoned '3' in India yesterday asking about their itemised billing for calls done prior to an actual bill being available. She advised me that the charges don't show(of course I have only using my free minutes at the moment but with Tmobile I was tracking what calls were made.Let's hope there are no charges.
I bet your friends don't beleive you when you say you have a deal for £20
for the year with all those free minutes.
