well thanks for those pearls od wisdon Einstein, fortunately many of those who did get 2;2's didn't feel it as demeaning as you obviously do,in addition Ii think the whole purpose of this thread is to offer advice and support to those who got 2:2's .If this is the best you have to offer don't bother posting. I don't think what you would have not done is of any interest.0

Hi
I graduated about 7 years ago, and can honestly say your grade really doesn't matter. I started out in a non-graduate level job, despite having a 2.1 (don't hate me!!!), and worked my way up.
I've since recruited people, and we've only ever been interested in seeing that someone actually has a degree, not the grade. A lot of people leave uni thinking they must have a professional graduate job or feel like a failure, but there simply aren't enough graduate scheme places to go around.
And as hundreds of graduates used to apply for jobs at my last company, having a degree was arguably even less imporatant because all applicants have one - its the person, their skills and enthusiasm that differentiates you.Comping Challenge: 2 x CDs £30, Outlet Shopping Vouchers £50

You got a higher grade?...AND STILL...took the offer of a "FREE" laptop with AOHELL... a student with a third knows theres no such thing as a free lunch.... what happened you?I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j

Well I'll give you all a boost......
I jus scraped a 3rd from one of the best universities in the country. This was mainly due to me having the most amazing time at uni and missing a lot of work. Whilst I wouldn't advise anyone to do this, it has made me sell myself much more than my peers as I thought I would be less employable.
I got a job on my second interview within 3 months of graduation and have been there 8 years working my way up. The job I got earned me substantially more than my friends and I still earn more than most of them. In fact, nearly 9 years after graduating, I still have friends with higher degrees (1st, 2.1) who have never held down a deent job and are still temping.
It is all a question of wanting something enought to go out and get it.
I startmy next new job (a promotion) in the Middle East in August and can't wait.
My degree was in Biochemistry- so all you chemists hold in there!! YOu will get there!CC debt 4389/12000 slowly chipping away helps :j

Poor you!
My graduation ceremony was a great day out, and a last chance to see old friends and celebrate the good time that I had had over the preceding three years. Oh: and getting a degree at all (a third) was something to celebrate. The most important celebration was what I had learnt from my mistakes. Applying these insights enabled me to go on and obtain an MSc (distinction) and PhD.
So don't rush to judgement: it ain't over until the fat lady sings!0 -
Im at Bath doing Mchem chemistry...
Always wonderd if a 3rd Mchem (Masters of Chemistry) is as good as a 2:2 Bsc?
I have no idea what ill get, my first year Xmas exam results a mized bag... 1st, to fail!
Not wanting to put a dampner on it, but I would read that as spending even longer time at university and still not managing to do very well... If a candidate didn't do so well in their Bsc, but then learnt from their mistakes and applied themselves during their Masters, I would be much more impressed. It shows that they are willing to learn from their mistakes, and are proactive!0 -
Gonna go against the tide here and say i agree (for me) the ammount of work i put in if i dont get a 2:1 or a 1st i will be mightly upset and would not want to go to the graduation. Thankfully i think i have a 2:1 in the bag...
But just having a good degree is clearly not enough to waltz into a job. Unfortunatly i dont even know what i want to do in terms of a job upon finishing. I think another gap year is in order - or maybe two...
