Absolutely - it is the responsibility of the buyer to provide the corrent money, there is no responsibility for the retailer to make change. .

There is no responibility for a company to give change, I suppose that is right. But how long do you think a company would stay in business if they insisted on correct change only?

Would every customer be walking round with pockets bulging with change, ready for the eventuality that they need to have exactly £37.86 or whatever their shopping costs? That is a stupid idea.

And anyway, Sainsburys staff may be on minimum wage, but if I am not mistaken, a smile costs nothing?

I have worked in customer service jobs / restaurants on minimum wage before, and its not great wages but it certainly makes the day a lot easier if you are polite to customers, they will (in most cases) be nice back. If you are rude, then you will get that back.

I can't see how going to a co-op can be horrific. It's simple, in, buy, out.

I can see how someone who can easily make a mountain out of a molehill could end up finding it horrific!

..my point exactly..although..reminds me of the Simon Pegg film with the "Battle of the Supermarkets scene"..Hopefully no automatic weapons involved...
  • I vote with my feet in situations like this, as it is obvious the nerd does not need my money. All you have to say is Thanks, puit it back on the shelf mate and walk
