Apart from the usual in my kitchen, kettle, toaster, microwave etc. I have a Borner V slicer, rice cooker, Stick Blender, mini fridge (OH's beer fridge ;) ) , authentic chinese wok. Then the usual seletion of pots, pans, knives etc.

I can't live without my kitchenalia, it's how I de-stress. Family always know when I'm stressed, they eat very well :D

I would love a magimix, but I can't justify that amount of money at the mo, Would also love to have one of those big american style fridges (drool..........)

I am reading with interest the thread on a slow cooker, as I'm seriously considering one.

Wasn't sure whether to post this here or on the healthy eating thread, but here goes ...

Anyone wanting to buy the "Big George" grill get yourselves over to Boots website today. They are having a 10% day and if you combine that with the 20% off anything over £40 code for new buyers (will need to register again if you already have an account ;) ) which can be found over on the discount vouchers board, it knocks it down to just over £30 with free P&P (RRP is £59.99). You also get 179 advantage points, and if you're with greasypalm you can get an extra 2.5% too :D

Just ordered mine but no idea where I'm gonna put it yet LOL!

  • I've recently moved to Canada and here people don't seem to make toasties they have 'grilled cheese' (and ham etc add what you like) Basically 2 pieces of bread, buttered and some cheese.Make the sandwhich butter side on the outside (same as with a toastie maker) into a hot frying pan for a few mins each side. This means no grotty sandwhich toaster (I always found ancient pieces of melted cheese down the cracks in mine from 6 mths before!) adn you get hot melty tasty toasties in no time!
  • (Apologies if this has been done before)

I was wondering what, if anything, would you not be without now that you have it? Is it your breadmaker, slow cooker or something completely different?

I must say that one of my recommendations is a doughnut maker, bought from Argos with my nectar points so cost me nothing, but has had so much use and churned out batches of doughnuts for the kids (of course I haven't had any at all ;) ).

So what would you not be without and recommend? (And please don't say "tin opener"!)

  • It has to be my breadmaker, i've had it for a few weeks now, and have not had to buy bread since, and the bread it makes is delicious. In terms of labour saving I think it wins hands down. Then in true old style next would be the slow cooker. Even though I've had to do the work getting the dinner on in the morning, it leaves me free to do other things and then serve dinner when it's ready. Makes me feel I've had a day off from cooking.

Then It must be my dishwasher. He's tall dark and handsome, and I suppose he shoulld be first on my list:D

    Edit

Mind you my tin opener broke a week befire payday, and I really couldn't afford another, and it's suprising how myuch I missed it. I messed up one of me good knives opening tins:mad:
  • Well, numero uno on my list would have to be the kettle otherwise where would I be without my gallon of :coffee: every morning :rotfl:

Apart from that, and thinking of electrical appliances, I'd have to say my breadmaker, slow cooker and yoghurt maker come a pretty close second, followed of course by the toaster and microwave, although I guess I could live without those if I really had to.

My new "James Martin" special hand mixer is used frequently as I don't have the strength anymore to whip up things like egg whites, cream etc by hand and even basic stuff I find tiring and painful at times.

I can only dream of having a dishwasher again, and I'm hoping and praying that when I move I have a kitchen big enough to accommodate one, as that will be one of my first essential purchases :D

In fact I'm hoping I have a much bigger kitchen full stop so I have room to do some proper cooking again! :j

  • For me, it has to be my powerful mixer / blender. 3 jars for 3 different kinds of grinding and blending and without this, I will not know how to cook!! And then closely followed is my electric rice cooker!!! ;-)
The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

Mine is definitely the dishwasher. When looking round flats recently it was one of our prerequisites!

Other than that, I don't really have any exciting gadgets, although getting a breadmaker this weekend :D

*Electric* tin opener (cant use a normal one coz of hands)
    Dishwasher
    Slowcooker
    Kettle
