I have to ask, if you werent made aware of the BT contract length on the phone when you took the contract why didnt you ask at the time? or ask BT before you transfer to Talk Talk?
Either way the £70 is correct and thats due to TT not activating a line for you themselves and because you didnt check to confirm your T&Cs. Sorry. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 20 -
Hello Igb2100,
Sorry to hear that you have had trouble with your home move. It was correct that you need an active line at your new house in order for us to provision the service on the line as per our terms and conditions.
We are working on a new process which will allow us to set-up the line from scratch without the need for you to contact BT however this new process is now live yet due to a number of internal systems which need to upgraded to allow for this change.

How many more times do you have to be reminded that Ofcom required BT to set Openreach up so that ALL line providers could use them to provision/reconnect lines. Talk Talk (amongst others) chose the cheapskate option of saying only BT could do that sort of work.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Hi,
I didn't say we couldn't nor did i say it was only BT who could? I am saying that we are not in a position to offer this to our customers yet, Once we have upgraded our internal systems to allow us to process this type of order we will.
Its funny that you think that we don't offer it because we are cheap. It makes more sense as a business to be able to do this as we will then be in a position to provide a service to more people.

In this post you sayTALKTALK_SUPPORT wrote:Unless you have an active BT line there isn't any other provider who will be able to offer you a service,
It hasn't been so much about the cost in the past but the logistics of arrange this, and so this is why all other providers not just TalkTalk require a BT line however
Really mate, whatever TalkTalk decide to say and do I dont really care, but at least be aware of what you have posted. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 20 -

You've just made yourself look like a hypocrit?
You're saying that its not a case of we dont offer line installations because we're cheap, but its better business sense to piggy back off another provider as we dont have any expense in setting up lines.
Seriously, if you're representing a company just do that & not spout the rubbish I'm reading, as this will mis-lead people, something which the company you work for are renowned at doing.0 -
After experiencing horrific problems with a line installation with BT and subsequently having the line cancelled, I can only say keep onto them! I spent 3 months ringing them, spending hours on hold, being told different responses. After getting a final demand and threat of debt collectors I finally got the bill cancelled. You need to perserve and don't give in! Good luck. I don't recommend them to anyone!
Try dealing with Talk Talk or Virgin Media customer services if you think BT are bad.
In fact I've come to the conclusion that the majority of players in the telecoms industry don't know what customer service is. They seem to hope that if they are as useless as possible you will put up with it.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

A mature response
Just speak facts, not the nonsense you're paid to say. People will then start to give you a little more patience.0
