Hi
I have decided to start a thread to be my DF Diary. I'm not looking at being debt free until 2011 and have another thread on here for dealing with debt and depression and I think/want that to remain a support thread rather than just my debt wannabe rambling. The thread can be found here
2008 is going to be my year and this is what I want to do with it:
[STRIKE]
1 - Pay off my Laptop
2 - Pay off my OD and close the account
[/STRIKE]
3 - Stick to my budget and only buy things I need
4 - Lose the remaining 3 1/2 stone to reach my target weight
5 - Get Fit
But currently this is the situation:
I am £9.98 OD  I have a £500 transfer waiting to be paid in. But does this look managed:
-9.98 + £500 = £490.01
Out of this £490.01 needs to come:
£207.50 - Rent
£15.18 - Laptop payment (min)
£25.00 - phone bill
£12.49 - internet
£9.90 - RAC Cover
£60.00 - petrol
£60.00 - 'spends'
= £390.07
Leaving = £99.94
Which would mean I could make an over payment on my Laptop this month. I have £35 in my purse (I managed to go out and not spend anything on NYE!) And I intend to make this last as long as I can. OH and I have decided to no have any meals out/take aways until Feb (and then only once a month) to save money and help me (us) lose some weight.
But does the above seem reasonable? I'm paid on the 20th? I can't see myself spending any more that £95 in 18 days? I mean I don't need anything!
Wish me luck.
More about me, I live with my Mum (can't afford to move out) I have an OH, although we had an arguement on New Year's eve, he can be really selfish but is going to try hard to think a bit more. So I am going to wait and see. I suffer from stress and depression, but I don't want that to rule my life this year as I lost huge chunks of last year to it.
So welcome aboard and let hope 2008 is the year!

Hi,
what are the int rates on your OD and laptop. Pay £90 towards whichever is highest - it will make a significant dint in either of those and make you feel better.

Looks good to me Lucy. £95 is easy to live on if you don't need anything! Just try to resist the sales!0

My laptop is at 29.9 % and the OD is at 0%. I want rid of the laptop asap, the OD I'm not worried about as some Amazon sale money went in there this month.Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0

I went to visit the sales on Friday with all my Christmas vouchers and I sent £2 on some Christmas cards for next year. I didn't think things had much of a discount this yearI can never spend money when I have some!
Oh and I owe myself £25 Christmas money. My Uncle gave me some, but I used it rather than go to the cash point, which is NOT what he had intended :rolleyes:Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
Ooohh a shiny new diary - good luck Lucy
Of course £95 is do-able. Set yourself a challenge to spend as little of that as possible, then pay what's left of the lappyIs it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

I'm hoping I will get away with £65 which would mean I can op £100 on my laptop and still have a cushion in my account.
I think I sort of got carried away on that one, still you never know what might happen!Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -

Sounds like the way forward to me - put the £100 towards it ASAP and then you can't possibly spend it on other things!:A :A :A :A

I have an early repayment option on the laptop so long as it's paid by the 28th May. Which hopefully isn't going to be a problem, what I intend to do is clear as much as possible from it, if not all. Then if there is anything left I will just add it to my OD which is interest free until july and then only 5%.Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0

Ooo I forgot to say I was given a paint your own piggy bank for christmas by my best friend.... She is going to be my 'treats' pig.
I'll pop up some before and after pictures... I'm seeing flowers and glitter going on! I just need to think of a piggy name.
That'll keep me busy.Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
