'Good on you Rhydian' blog discussion

Am I the only one who thought that Leon was terrible? Nice bloke and all that, but truely awful voice! I loved Rhydian's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "You Raise Me Up". Not keen on the Christmas song though (ESPECIALLY being warbled by Leon, faintly audible above the choir).
And yes, well done Rhydian for pointing out the costs of voting. I tried to vote for him in the final for the first time but couldn't get through :mad:They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
Of course they rarely if ever state what votes for the individual competitors have been placed. (Of course if they did there are those amongst us who would total them up, multiply by .35, deduct the actual cost of the call and then calculate the millions of £ that the T.V. company actually made!
As the results are not stated and there is no form of any kind of verification, they can be fiddled. "Same Difference" would probably never have made it. They are however excellent entertainers and have probably already signed contracts for a big panto somewhere. Andrew Lloyd-Webber had his eye on Rhydian as the next Opera Phantom. He has every quality needed for this and similar parts in the future and in the long run will probably make more than the X factor winner. Well - we know who was left. It wouldn't suprise me if Rhydian did not make some form of deal to loose the X-Factor because of other offers he was receiving as a result of his X-Factor exposure.

I was strongly reminded of the first Pop Idol result, where Will Young beat Gareth Gates unexpectedly. I felt they wanted "Gareth" to win this time. Could they have stopped the voting if Rhydian pulled ahead? Oh surely not, how cynical can this grumpy old cah be!
I appreciated his comment on the cost, and of course lots of people do vote 50 times, I gritted my teeth and voted twice because I prefer ta;emt to fluffy bunnies. My granddaughter wanted to vote for Same Difference but I wouldn't let her. Stingy eh?.0 -

Could it be that Rhydian lost because too many people tried to vote for him but couldn't get through on the phones? ie He had too many fans clogging up the phone lines and, in this case, he probably would have won if they had got through!
There should be sufficient lines to cater for all the people who wanted to vote. It seems to me that if X Factor cannot provide sources for everyones vote to be counted, then X Factor cannot provide a realistic and fair competition.0 -
Good luck to Rhydian too. It could be the best thing for him.
The winner is (contractually or morally) obliged to take up the Simon Cowell Contract. His career is going to be micro-managed, every step requiring prior approval. The other two acts needed the win to be successful.
But for anyone with talent and confidence and ambition, the best thing could be to get to the final but not win. You get all the exposure but none of the strings.0 -

Ahhhh so it was a fix, caused by people like you withdrawing freedom to vote!!;)
I didn't vote for anyone till it was down to the last two. . As a matter of principle I wouldn't vote in the earlier rounds. Too expensive. I am a stingy old bag.., sorry a frugal old age pensioner.
Let's face it, Leon needed to win, he might have collapsed as a gibbering wreck otherwise.0 -
I think it was rigged:
Think about it, Leon..... nice chap but in two years time where is he going to be?..... another Gareth Gates forgotten about in the mists of time?....... Rhydian on the other hand can do/go anywhere....
Personally I think Simon has allready spoken to Rhydian and offered a far larger contract than the small fry of 1 million. Id almost bank on it that Rhydian has signed a nice 4/5 Album contract for a good few million.
Let Leon throw an album out, do a few tours and earn a few quid while he can. Rhudian on the other hand would be a waste of a million quid.......... He needs about 5 million to do him justice.
I expect him to launch a cracking album next year, packed out arena tours with Catherine Jenkins/G4/EL Divo and a cheeky stint down the West End..... He has it made!
I just hope Leon goes quietly when his 5 mins of fame is up............0 -
Agreed, I think Leon only won because he was the sob story - single mum raising him, crying when he could, grrrrrrr...............................
Rhydian was far better, he actually had the talent and could have won it easily. I tried voting at least 15 times easily for Rhydian only to be told the service was busy, ( i know its expensive too but i dont buy anythgin for myself so my usual one vote on x factor was my treat) but it was ridiculous and couldnt get through at all and many of my other friends who watched couldnt either. rhydian should have one and i for one am glad that the welsh radio stations have banned Leons record. I think it was definately a fix - we demand a recount!!!!Time to find me again0 -
Strictly Come Dancing! A lot of their phone in money goes children in need and they also do ballroom dancing - a personal favourite0
