I've just added the following update to the UK calls article

Talk-Talk* from the Carphone Warehouse is currently £7.99 for its unlimited UK landline calls anytime, plus sign up before the end of August and the first three months are free. Thus across a year you’re effectively paying £6 per month.

This means for anyone who makes over 300 landline calls a month (10 a day) its cheaper than call18866 for landlines. Although don’t use it for calling mobiles as there are much cheaper options below.

Most importantly after you’ve had the package for a year the cost jumps to £12.99 a month, at that point its easily beatable and should be swiftly ditched.

Unfortunately, TalkTalk start charging for any individual call that is over 70mins!

For those that are constantly on the phone for over 70minutes (per call) and can't be bothered with the hassle of remembering to disconnect and then reconnect within 70mins to avoid being charged then Tele2 charge £7.49 per month for unlimited (no call length restriction) calls to geographical numbers. I believe (but check) that Tele2 also give you £10 for signing-up online which would mean this equates to £6.65 per month over the year.

Also, Tele2 are doing free evening & weekend calls to geographical numbers for free until the end of this year.

Is this open to existing customers? I am currently on the free off peak calls till end of the year with TalkTalk with the free off-peak USA calls thrown in too.

Only prob is that if I am allowed to go for this, would they switch me back to the old offer at the end of the 3 months if I cancel?

Just phoned Talktalk. It's available for existing customers, but the 3 months free is not. It's £7.99 a month for the first 12 months.

You could threaten to leave and move to Tele2 that do it for £7.49 then see if they will do the 3months for free.

This isn't to landlines - it is only to geographical numbers.

The offer applies to calls to any UK 01/02 Landline no whatever network provides the line for it.It does not apply to calls to non geographic numbers 0844/0845/0870/0871,or to calls to the Channel Islands 01481/01534.

Yes you can stil get it free if you CPS your calls to Talk Talk, providing you make the occassional call via BT.So all you have to do is send the odd call via the BT 1280 overide facility.EG 0845/0870 numbers which are cheaper with BT.

If you sign up via "R Points", you get 1000 points, so thats an extra £10.00 off, making it £5.16 per month. am I correct ?
