  • Thanks to the posters who pointed me to the right place on the Asda website for the £2.00 voucher policy. I printed this off and took it into my Asda along with the receipts showing refund and hey presto! I was given a Christmas savings card with £5.00 on it. The Customer Services woman was not the same one who originally told me that no £2.00 vouchers were given and she said that yes, they were always given as it was company policy and that she would take the matter up with her manager.
    This site is brilliant!!!!!!!!!!! :)

i was overcharged on an item last night

i was given my money back and told that it was my fault that i was overcharged because i had used the self service checkout

i asked for a complaint letter as i failed to see how i was responsible for their barcode pricing computer system

i filled in a form and when it became clear that i wasn't handing it to the girl at the customer services desk i was then offered a £2 gift card to hand my form in there and then and not to send it to head office
  • Good shot, adr0ck.

Checked with cs desk at local ASDA last night - the policy is don't ask, don't get! Guess who'll be asking next time then? Thanks everyone for flagging this up.

Below is the letter I have received today and that I said in my reply #24 on the other Asda thread, that I would post, it is an up to date policy,(letter dated 4th December 2007), and clearly states;- "applies to every product you are over charged on"

If anyone wants me to email the letter to them, (with my details omitted), so that the letter is as wrote,( as it distorts some images using my OCR), on headed paper, then PM me with an email addy and I will send it.

    Our Ref:

    4th December 2007

    Dear Mr

Thank you for taking the time to contact me about our over charging policy.

Following our recent telephone conversation I can clarify that in the instance we do accidentally overcharge our customers, ASDA have a policy to reimburse the difference along with a £2.00 gift card for the inconvenience. This £2.00 gift card is issued without hesitation and applies to every product you are over charged on, not per transaction as you have previously been informed.

You can claim these gift cards by either returning to the store itself or you can call us on 0500 1000 55, either way it's not a problem.

I do hope my letter answers your query and if I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Yours sincerely

Forgot to mention, there was another £10 gift card, have again spoken to Asda, and have been told to keep all cards I have received, so I have a total of £32. just because the CS at Asda Preston would not give the £8. I was due.

  • I was in Asda at Govan (Glasgow) on Saturday and was overcharged on paper napkins which had been reduced to 16p and I was charged 34p, didn't know about the £2 gift card and I was in a hurry so didn't bother with CS. It was only when I got home I realised I had been charged £2 for some face clothes which had been reduced to 75p, eventually got back in tonight and I got my refund and when I mentioned the gift card, I was told that as I had used a self scan checkout it didn't apply because if I had used a checkout with an assistant they would have noticed the difference in price  (I bought two packs and the other one went through correctly). I told him there was no way checkout assistants check the price of everything and it didn't matter I would just take it up with Head Office.

I was overcharged at Asda Blantyre on 2 * Little Tykes Torches which should have been 2 for £10, but still came up at the original price of £5.97 each. I went to CS who refunded me the difference, I then asked about the £2 gift card and was told, "no that's only on, oh you're right..." If you don't ask, you don't get :)
    Waddle you do eh?
  • Overcharged on my phili (should have been £2 for the 2 Large ones, but got charged £1.98 each) so refunded the difference but had to ask for the gift card got a £2 happy chick one:j :j :j

    Morning

I work on the customer service desk at ASDA (no dont shout at me!) If a customer comes over to me with an overcharge then i automatically hand out a £2 giftcard. This money comes out of the staffs bonus at the end of the year and thats probably why not everyone hands it out, it also has a wee bit of paperwork that needs to be filled in.

Last time i was in i was approached by a manager who told me that we shouldn't automatically be handing these out. Only if the customer asks! Regardless of the policy. I nodded and agreed and continued handing these out.

    So...... REMEMBER TO ASK!!!!
