Yes. Depends what it is and how out of date of course , you can't be too careful with some foodstuffs. I personally don't think a few days out of date on a lot of food and drink is a problem although my husband makes me throw some things away when I would keep them a bit longer

Yeah, I'm with you on that and wouldn't touch seafood or chicken if it smelt iffy, but other stuff I don't mind, and sell-by dates don't always indicate something is past eating anyway, it's just a safety measure for manufacturers/retailers.

I agree with Sheel on what it is and how out of date it is.

Also agree with with the fish and chicken things , they can be very dodgy.:naughty:

And the sell by dates do cover the manufacturer as you say, its suppose to be when the product is at its best, but some are ok past there dates.:)

Hope no one gets a funny tummy with the chances that we take._pale_ ;)

I think it all boils down to common sense really, and trusting your eyes and nose to judge whether something is fit to eat or not ;)

    Agreed!

It's all about using 4 of your senses .... sight, smell, taste and COMMON!

I've used rice which was 2months out of date - I live :D:D

Gosh, what did people do before there were dates on packets?

All preserved food .... I'd smell & taste. So that's tins, jars, dried food. Tins - look for damage.

Meat, fish & dairy, I'd be careful of - smell & taste.

Mould on cheese & bread is unlikely to be harmful - just unpleasant.

My cleaner took all the out of date food out of my cupboard and asked me if I wanted her to chuck it  spices, pickles, tins ...... no thanks, I think I'll survive ;)
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
