To all the good people of MSE,

Well, what a pleasant evening I've had...

Firstly, I'd like to begin my ritualistic rambling, as always, with the preordained and deserved THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU... With an extra special :o to my right honorable collegues who have, rather embarrassingly to me, pointed out that I very well may have a readership, of sorts... :o:o:o

So... onto the subject of my pleasant evening TONIGHT...

I was lucky enough to have had the pleasure of being taken out this evening to a very favorite house of intoxication of mine for a light smattering of ales and colourful liquers by a dear, dear friend. Said friend had, very cleverly (the little sherlock-a-like that he is) noticed that I haven't been my usual "Man-About-Town" self these last few weeks. This, he explained to me, was a cause of some concern to him, and he'd be DAMNED if he wasn't about to find out what the matter CAUSING my uncharactoristic abstanance was... Despite many, many attempt from myself to dispell his fears, and reassure him that I was, in fact, of sound mind and body, sounder of both, in fact, than I had been in many a year, no was most certainly an answer he assured me he would NOT be taking.

Hi-ho, Hi-ho, it's off to the pub we go...

Having assessed my trouser-housed budget (appoximately £1.03 from my £2.00 a day), I announced that I did fear a trip to the cash machine would be in order... This, my friend later explained, further aroused his suspicions... However, more on that later... I withdrew my last available bank note of the fair month of June (balance at time £1,178.18DR) and continued the sojourn to said establishment.

Upon arriving, my learned companion and I were greeted by our hosts with something known as "The Usual"... A large glass of an amber coloured liquid known as "Stella", and a "Rum and Coke" in a rather shorter glass... Said round was on me... (I figured get it out of the way first...) It was at this point, Sherlock (as he will be from hereon known) asked a question of me... "PanickingHARD" He said "Tell me, why is it that you have refained from your usual method of reconcilliation with the owners and keepers of this fine house of liquid refreshment, know as 'Setting A Tab Up'?"

"I shall be retaining their services for not longer than the duration of two rounds", came my retort...

"Like F&$% you won't", came his....

Or words to that effect, anyway... The exact phrases may have differed in tense, but I fear that from this point forth, my mind is a little less acutely aware of happenings around and involving me than is normal... Back to our tale...

Within seconds, Sherlock was on me... Like the proverbial dog with a bone...

"You're skint, aren't you?", was the pertinant question he arrived at not 3 minutes into our conversation...

"Yeah mate... Seriously f*&%in skint" came my sullen reply...

After another 2 minutes or so of fast-paced 'Q&A', the truth had been set free... Sherlock was in my circle of trust... He took it like the man I knew him to be...

"Well the least I can f$%£in do is pay you back what I owe you... Beer"

Yes friends, as you may be coming to guess, from that point forward, Sherlock and I have had the most merry of evenings, funded entirely by the good fellow himself, and on the honour of his own manhood ("I swear on my c*ck, mate"), He has taken a solemn vow... To repeat this evenings actions on not less than one night per week, from here onwards, until my most gaullingly over full Credit Card has been returned to it's natural state of being emptied. At said point, I will have the HONOUR of funding an evening in toast and celebration of him, and his unbelieveable kindnesses and understanding...

I fear, my friends, that I must now retire... For tiredness shall give way to sleep, as sure as the night shall give way to the morning...

I bid you a fond and warm farewell... You are all in my thoughts, now and forever... and I feel compelled to tell you that I am smitten by you all...

    Just... ROFL :D

I was going to add above comment last night after your very amusing post but wasn't sure if you were in the right state of mind to take it in the light hearted manner it was intended. I do love reading your thread, it makes me smile. Glad you had a good night! :)
