Private Messaging
To use the Private Messaging System, you must first check that you have set your PM preferences in your Options
Click here and you will find this box halfway down the page:

You can then enter the Private Messaging page at any time by clicking the Private Messages link on every page:

You can send private messages by going to any post made by the user you want to contact and clicking on their name:Alternatively, you can click Send New Message from the Private Messaging page (see post #4 below)
You will be taken to this page which has a message box similar to the reply box you use when posting.0 -
If you have selected to be notified by pop-ups (see post #1 above) then you will be notified by windows like these when you receive a new message:
If you have a pop-up blocker, then this will usually block the message opening in a new window.
You can usually change your settings to ensure this does not happen in the future.e.g. In Internet Explorer (service pack 2) a bar will appear that you can click for more options:If you have not chosen to be notified by Pop-ups, you will still know you have private messages by a message at the top of every forum page:
Tip:
If you do not want to receive Private Messages from an individual, you can put them on your ignore list. (see guide here)
They will not know that you have put them on your ignore list - messages they send will simply not be delivered to you.0 -
When you click the Private Messages link (see above) you will be taken
to the Private Messaging page:

This bar indicates how much space you have to store PMs.2 Jump to Folder
- The Red Line represents how many messages are in your inbox
- The Orange Line represents how many messages are in your outbox
- The Green Line represents how much free space you have left
You can choose whether to view your inbox or Sent folder by using this menu3 Send New MessageWhen you select Send New Message, you will be taken to a page with a Message box similar to the one used to reply to posts4 Edit FoldersYou can create new folders to store your messages in by using this option5 Tick AllClicking here will select all messages in that folder (for use with menu 7)6 Tick BoxesYou can select individual messages for action (for use with menu 7)7 MenuAfter you have selected messages, you can choose to Move, Delete, Mark or Download them with this menu8 Download AllIf you want to save all private messages in this folder quickly then clicking Text will save them all quickly as a text document.0
