Is it wrong to wear black to a wedding?

I have found the most amazing dress to wear to my SiL's wedding (June wedding), fits perfectly and feels mega.... but its solid black. I've got a nice black/floral jacket to wear with it, and purple shoes/handbag, so I won't be top to toe in black.... but is black acceptable at a wedding?

Thanks

Sx

i personally feel its ok if you dont wear the black jacket, but go for something more weddingy like cream. but it really depends, evening is completely fine, and if you know the couple well enough and attending the day, ask them. some of my close friends have asked me about their outfits and ive said fine to everything. so long as people are comfortable and dont come in tracksuits, jeans or trainers then i really dont mind about colours

I wouldn't mind but some might, are you able to ask her? Probably best to ask if she mind's either way, then you know for sure , we could all say yes go for it then she could be mortally offended. It does sound nice to me though esp the purple shoes/handbag.
    Booo!!!
  • I think it is fine, you can have black bridesmaid dresses, so why not???
I do object to denim worn at a wedding thou!

I have worn a black dress/jacket combo to a wedding. I went at short notice, so didn't have anything else suitable. It wouldn't be my first choice though.

Do you really want to wear black to a June wedding? It will be boiling!

I'm afraid it is a no from me! But I'd let the bride see you in the dress if you are dead set on it and let her decide.

I'm sure the bride and groom would want you to be comfortable - wear what you feel good in and start a new fashion!

Boiling? Im pretty sure the wedding is in England :rotfl:

In answer to the question, i think it would be really nice if teamed with the purple shoes etc... i know its the bride and grooms day but to be honest i dont think its upto them what you chose to wear.

i would be fine with it, i'd be happy as long it looks as if people have made some effort !! if it worries you that much can you ask the brode or groom their opinion x

My bridesmaids were in black and we actually had people comment on how nice it looked away from the many colours they had seen at weddings over the years. If people are more concerned about what you wear on the day rather than being grateful for your presence are they really worth worrying about?
