A friend of mine had a huge unexplained electricity bill and they couldn't find the source, so they went round turning everything off to see what was making the wheel spin. Turned out that her OH had been up in the loft MONTHS ago and taken up a small electric fan heater - which he totally forgot to switch off. She virtually skinned him alive when they discovered it!:j Every day in every way, learning to money save:j0

Wow thanks for the replies guys, been talking to DH he hasn't left anything on,so it's not that although I would have more than skinned him!.
We have had a lot of estimated bills but there is only a 110 deficit, the only difference is the cooking and cleaning? but if tom and barb can make cakes all day with not a big change, then it can't be that either.
Can someone pleeeaaase tell me how to make some micro or breadmaker cakes, just in case it is my oven, although it's new,it is a large fan oven so it might use more?
Thanks again all,it's got me stumped!Debt at highest £102k

I was with Atlantic and after our first 12 months, they upped our dual fuel bill from about £80 pcm to over £200 - because they had done their calculations wrong and we owed them. However, I switched suppliers and then found out that they make you massively over-pay, we have all but cleared the £550 owed amount in 3 months!! When we switch at the end of this months, we will only owe them £45!! So we would have been MASSIVELY in credit in 9 months! Something to check out0

Banana cake in the bread maker
2-3 bananas (once they are past their best and a bit overripe but not yucky)
1 cup of sugar
2 cups of selfraising flour
3 tbsp of oil
2 eggs
I just stick it on the cake settingbut I do make sure the bananas have been properly mushed (you could mush them first if you want?)

edited to say there ar others, infact you could probably adapt most recipies for your bread maker so long as the quantities fit in safelyDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Powergen are really bad about getting proper meter readings and use a lot of estimates. When I queried this and said we had had the meter read by someone I was told that often they didn't actually receive these readings......???! Anyway we ended up in arrears and they put our payments up to £170 a month from £50 to clear it. After 3 months it was cleared and I rang them to ask them to lower the payment which they reluctantly did to £115, which I hope will be enough. You have to remember there have been massive price hikes for gas and electric in the last couple of years as well.0

If you don't like it, do it, you might like it
