So most of you will know that 2009 was a pretty crappy year for me. I have no intention on dwelling on the past and some pretty good stuff happened last year too namely my big promotion and moving into a new house which I love :D

For a variety of reasons much of last year I spent drifting and not really doing anything constructive so 2010 is the time for the new and improved me :D

So many things I want to achieve in the next 12 months, some of them are long term goals so this year will be working towards them and others are slightly quicker fixers. I want to use this diary as a place to put down my successes and my feelings and just to keep me on track. My debt diary helped me so much over the months.

So what do I want to do in the next 12 months?? The list is quite extensive but I want to write it all down here and then I will start breaking it down into small chunks.

1) Save £10k to pay off my mortgage
2) Restart my Ebay business
3) Lose weight and get fit
4) Complete my degree and start a masters
5) Start dating again
6) Redecorate the house
7) Keep on top of the housework, maybe dabble in the world of Flylady
8) Most importantly fill my daughters life with fun and laughter and memories :happylove

And from those of us who dabble in the art of higher level thinking/man training (like I did before I became a bum)

Smart goals have to be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely....

So number one would be more like
Save £10k in a savings account to pay off of mortgage by 24th December 2010

    And number three might be:
Lose 1 stone in weight by July 1st 2010, and complete a 5k run for charity by 1st November 2010 in under 45 mins (or whatever target you might set).
That way you're covering the weight loss as well as working on fitness levels. And you've got a measure to see how you're getting on...

Then after that, you'd break them down into small goals, with shorter deadlines....

Thank you everyone for you well wishes. Need to break down each of the goals into smaller chunks I think. I am liking the 10k by 24th December, thats as paydays so £833 a month  definately will need more than my wages to do it. I still have my old car to sell though so thats a nice couple of grand and then hopefully I will raise quite a bit on Ebay too if all goes to plan :D

  • Hi Doodledo, just saw your new diary, just wanted to wish you all the luck in the World.

I miss my Ebay Business and am hoping to start up again in a year or two once DD3 starts at Playgroup and I'm 'hopefully' out of debt, hopefully Ebay will have picked up by then and the credit crunch will be over and people will start spending money again as I've found it pretty slow the last year.

Oh, and I didn't notice the spelling error until you mentioned it.

  • Hi Doodledo - I have a feeling that if you edit your first post and click on 'go advanced' then it gives you the option to change the title - I'm sure that works anyway;)

edit: yes it does work, have tested it out on my own diary!!
I really need to sort out a new signature!
