According to the Travel Money Maximiser, Tesco offers a better rate than Thomas Cook - if you have a Tesco with currency facilities nearby.

Also consider pre-ordering from TravelEx if the airport you are flying from has a TravelEx branch - although I'm not sure how far in advance you would have to order.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

No, why would it make a massive difference?? i'm thinking most high streets have the same more or less travel agents/banks etc on them.

Possibly - but local competition means that rates can vary from town to town and that who's best can vary from day to day.

Clearly leew knows better than us all. It's his/her money. Leave him/her to it. :)

My better half is a Manager for Tesco and they are slightly offering a worse rate at the mo.

No not really, just know better than you! as i don't recall you backing you're argument up with facts :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Why reply to a thread if you contribute nothing to it, very strange

Thanks to all who did help in some way
  • I'm going to NYC in April. I'm thinking about getting one of these cards

The rates seem to be better than just buying $'s.

Anyone got any experience with them?

I asked you a question...you refused to answer(because you think that you know better), so I'm happy for you to waste your money. ;)

American Express. No commission, and ROX better than M and S, Post Office etc.

No, get yourself down to Thomas Cook. ;)

PS: If you could actually read and comprehend, it would be clear that Thomas Cook don't actually offer the best rate. They rely on dolts like you to stay in business. So, go right ahead.

Travel Money maximiser shows the rates. But the best rates are with companies which have branches in central London.

Last week Thomas Cook was the best high street rate, using a voucher from their site which gave us the online rate over the counter.

NB Number 1 Currency had run out of dollars two days running.
