Any decent Caravan/Chalet sites in East Anglia?

Options
Hi all,

We are hoping to go away for a week later in the month but we are struggling to find anything we can afford. Butlins priced up at £1,300  for 4 of us, okay so that was half board and £800 for self-catering. Pontins came in a lot cheaper, just over £500 and that was half board but didn't have the accommodation to fit us all in and we are a bit dubious about going back to Haven after our last experience at Caister which we used to go to regularly and love but recently they've had trouble with the local kids getting onto the site (our last visit ended in having the police coming to our chalet to take statements from us, we went home a day early because the holiday was ruined).

Does anyone know of any decent caravan/chalet sites in the East Anglia area? Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Pakefield etc? We want to go to one that has a decent pool, near the beach and has entertainment in the evening.

Vauxhall Holiday Park looks great, but is expensive, probably because it's big and well known, I think we need to find a littler-known place.

Are there any gems out there?

Thanks in advance :)

We stayed at Broadland Sands about 5 years ago and liked it. we rented a caravan off Ebay and it was brilliant. The clubhouse on a night was good as it didnt get as busy as Havens, we never had to go out a 6pm like you would at Haven sites :D
Heres a link to the site : http://www.broadlandsands.co.uk/broadland.php

just spent a week at my brothers caravan at hopton on sea, half way between great yarmouth and lowestoft.

    caravans are run by Haven,

    indoor/outdoor pool,
    entertainment complex
    access to sandy beach
a couple of pubs outside of the site

    just found this website

Haven Wild Duck is a good park and got the runner up award for best Haven park, losing to Littlesea in Weymouth.

I'd second Wild Duck. I had a mid-week break there one September and it was peaceful, pretty, clean and we had everything we needed in the caravan. Well they call them something else now ... but you get the idea.

Rabbits, squirrels and wildlife in abundance, swimming pool, nature trails etc.

Kelling Heath caravan Park near Sheringham/Holt is also very well rated but I think quite pricey. Check it out.

Thanks to all for the replies.

The Wild Duck one looks lovely, at the larger parks there is too much hustle and bustle but that one looks lovely for a family to stay in.

    Thanks again :)

We went to Wild duck last month and were so impressed, that we have bought a caravan there.
Going back mid August with the grand children, son and DIL.
There are an indoor and an outdoor pool and a lovely sandy beach at Gorleston which is a short drive away. Lifeguards and a few shops and places to eat there.
And the park at Wild Duck is on level ground, which is easier for anybody who has mobility problems.
Nice and clean too and very friendly staff.

    We also like Wild duck.
But top of the list has to be Searles at Hunstanton, its a fantastic site.

great service and small family friendly site, with spa and golf (both extra) close to beach and walkable to shops for self catered. But its the service that puts its top.

Have stayed at Wild Duck it is GOOD... But..... Searles at Hunstanton is much better.
Better beaches that face west.. sunsets across the wash. Better facilities and sports. Family run and it shows. Nice bar, entertainment... we have been 3 times and look for it as a first choice everytime.

Having done numerous Sun breaks over many years Searles is the best site of the 6 or 7 we have stayed at in East Anglia. In fact its the best of the dozen or more we have stayed at in the south of England....... Brilliant.
I save so I can spend.

Just had a look at that Searles website and I must say, it does look good.

What are their prices like compared to Haven Wild Duck?

;) Felines are my favourite ;)
