Morning, hope everyone is Ok,and if not soon will be.
DH wants to go to B&Q so will get him to drop me at Hobbycraft as I want some bits to make SisILs birthday card for next week.Must take library books back too.
I've put some reduced lamb from Mr S in the slow cooker for a lamb curry, then I don't need to start cooking after the match.(Always used to have a takeaway).
Better get moving!
Have a good weekend xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning all,
Aussie, what a dreadful few days you've had! I hope dh is ok this morning and you manage to catch up on your sleep at some stage today.
Ruby, I'm glad you're feeling a bit better today.
tru, I loved the link to the Old Style businesses, it's great to see that sort of thing continuing as without young blood it could die out altogether.
NPM, this thread might help with the gnocchi: Help with Gnocchi please...
Will you all stop making 'a la Hester' comments about my little sister. It makes me want to put my fingers in my ears and sing 'la la la la la la'. For the record, she only did it once, produced two gorgeous children, learned by her mistake and never, ever, did it again! At least that's what she told me.
I woke early this morning so have had a paddle around the garden to check on the veggies. It's bright and there's lots to do out there so if the rain holds off that's what I'll be up to today. Ds2 is mithering me to go fishing....if I can get out of it I will, but I have a feeling he's going to wear me down. If I get a chance I might take a trip to the garden centre too. Tea tonight will be a barbeque or freezer surprise if it's raining.
Got to go, Haribo is on the phone but I can't make out a word she's saying because she's stuffing her face with muffins.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all
Overcast & blowy here today with the odd shower.
I'm sat here in front of the screen drinking a cup of ginger & lemon tea & it tastes disgusting, maybe it's an aquired taste, I think I'll go back to redbush & I do mean the drink, I'm not contemplating a dye job, I have enough trouble trying to keep the grey roots at bay on my head!
So far today the DW is on, first load of washing is on the line (i'm keeping a very close eye on the weather) 2nd load is in the machine. The oven is full of marinaded chicken pieces & I'm about to add a couple of loaves of bread & 2 banana loaves too.
HJ, how many of the oysters worked? lol.
Ofsted finished on Thurday & we got feedback yesterday, we've done extremely well, which is a great relief, but we are losing governors by the boatload. Can't say I'm surprised they sat around whilst the previous head got us in to this mess & have been told so in no uncertain terms.
It looks like hubby has work for a few more weeks yet, yay, I could get used to living with money, lol.
Hubby & I have booked a weekend in a caravan for the Bank Holiday, we're really looking forward to it.
BIL1 has very little work on, but did ask hubby if he could do next week with him, hubby declined as school had already booked him. BIL1 had the snip last week, he went to Harley Street & had it done by laser, I wonder if it's less painful that way.
Well I've waffled on long enough, have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Guys!
Aussie-Hope your OH gets better soon and you find your locket.
HJ-Congrats and glad you had a nice evening out.
If I have missed any other major news...then I apologise but have only skimmed the threads and have forgotten most of it:o....but hugs to all.
The last 2-3 days have been manic. I wont bore you with all the details but my health has taken a nose dive again. OH was at the hospital yesterday morning having bloods and scans done after a visit to the GP yesterday. He also has an ostiopath (sp) appointment this afternoon.....luckily we have HSA.
Anyway, WM has been on and put outside. DW has been emptied and lunch is chicken with spicy couscous.
We are all feeling abit coldy, so are staying in today.
Hope everyone is well.

I don't actually buy any plants but I do love to stuff myself with their cream buns.
Got to go, Haribo is on the phone and I love her so much that I need to give her my undivided attention. I'm hoping she'll fill me in with all the detials of the after effects of those oysters.
Have a good day everyone.

Aw shucks.
Haven't made it in from the garden yet but the sun is shining so I've got a wash on the line. Have tidied up the greenhouse, fed the tomatoes and strawbs and planted a couple of rows of spinach. Not dressed yet but I bet I look better in my pink dressing gown than N9Eav.0 -

Bet you can HH - I wonder if a reference from the head for his ability to work and timekeeping may get him a better job than working for BIL when this ends (fingers crossed they make it permanent anyway).
Enjoy your caravanning weekend.

Afternoon OS chums!
Just a few recipes today til I can read back on the thread. I haven't heard from Tristan this week so didn't get up early the last few days. I might do so today/tomorrow if I get to bed early enough. I do worry when it all goes silent his end.
Anyway, been playing with sandwich fillings and dips so thought these might be useful to someone out there.
Vegetable spread
One medium onion, chopped
1 stick of celery chopped
2 - 3 oz of cucumber. Remove skin and chop
3 oz green pepper deseeded and chopped
couple of gherkins chopped (leave them out if you don't like them but they do give a nice tang to the flavour without tasting too much like gherkin)
3 oz cottage cheese (press this through a sieve first)
5 oz chopped fresh tomatoes
salt and black pepper
I sometimes add a slug of tabasco if I want some fire but it's nice without.
If you like a coarse spread, just mix everything together, if you like it smoother then blend. Chill well before eating.
Curried bean spread
bunch of spring onions chopped
15oz can of chick peas
15 oz can of flageolet beans
4 oz of low fat cottage cheese
3 oz of low fat fromage frais
1 tsp english mustard (ready made)
grated rind of half a lemon
curry powder to taste
small pinch of chilli powder to taste
salt and pepper
Put in the blender and blend til almost smooth depending on how you like your spreads.
Cucumber and cheese spread
8oz of cottage cheese
1 tsp lemon juice
dash of tabasco
half a small onion, grated or two or three spring onions finely chopped
6oz cucumber, peeled and finely chopped
Mix together and cover and chill in the fridge for about an hour. This makes a soft spread.
I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day. Warm gentlefor anyone who wants or needs one, and thank you to Redruby for the Wallace and Gromit vouchers! I may be able to send off for the toast rack now and any others can go towards the other items!

Hi everyone,
I have finally caught up with some of the threads, DD2 called in at 9.30 with DGD2. She had a long hot bubble bath soak then we played crib. She went home leaving DGD here for me to cherish.
I did the veg dishes and made the mango cheesecake, DD2 took some home when she collected DGD at 4.30. Didn't make the summer pud, was distracted by the need to snuggle DGD.
My name is Beth and I am a Charlotte-aholic.
Bet CANDYGIRL is also, because of the lack of her posts on here.
